Sep 05 M18C vs Gosford , Result: 2 - 1 Win
*** GRAND FINALISTS, GRAND FINALISTS, GRAND FINALISTS *** Congratulations guys on an outstanding result today your were worthy winners & are now Grand Finalists!!! A suitably just reward for all the hard work that John & the team have put into this season. John, Cassandra & all your supporters are stoked that your through to the Grand Final.
On an unbelievably windy morning at the ungodly hour of 7.30am at Mangrove Mountain, I was suitably impressed to see the majority of the team at the field bright eyed & bushy tailed or at least awake, sober & almost dressed!!
The team put together one of its most impressive games of the season today. Unlike last week when the team versed Gosford, there were 3 match officials & it certainly resulted in a fairer contest.
Kincumber had Gosford on the backfoot from the opening whistle. Our interchanging Midfielders, Forwards & Wingers are an extremely talented bunch of guys & each & everyone of them can & do score goals. This is one of the teams great strengths - we had Jason & Matt Qs long range shots peppering the keeper from all over the park, combining with Matt B, Robert, Josh, & Travis & creating quality opportunities in close. Robs return to the midfield is always a plus for the team - his interaction in the centre of the field in both attack & defense really stabilises the team. Phil had a really impressive game on the wing & in the backline. He kept his cool all game & really outplayed his opponents.
Well done to all the team for sticking to your game plan & for most part, ignoring some of the antics used by your opponents, especially after Kincumber went out to a 2 nil lead. The mantra no Red Cards & no Injuries again worked for the team. Before the 2nd half, the reminder that the team didn't want to return at the same time, to the same place next weekend worked like a charm. The opening play from the kick-off was inspired & so very nearly resulted in a goal to Matt Q.
James was the teams keeper today, & did a great job in the ball clearing department, consistently turning Gosford around & puting Kincumber on the attack. Well done James. Blake appeared to be pretty keen out on the field & enjoyed the game.
Supporting James were our defensive unit, the all clearing, all chasing Matt W, Tyler, Beau, birthday boy Nathan & the interchanging Phil. Congratulations guys on yet another solid display of teamwork. You supported each other, backed each other up & you shut down your opponents all match.
Todays goal scorers were Robert & Matt B with an excellent goal each.
Jason was as ever amongst the thick of things & his clearance kicks, corners & throw-ins were truly outstanding. The airborn header in full flight was also pretty spectacular.
With the battle for a spot in the Finals being played on the field beside us, we were able to keep up with proceedings & the guys know that Wyoming will be facing Gosford next weekend at Mangrove Mountain. The winner of this match will be our opponents in the Grand Final in a fortnights time, 19/9/10, at Pluim Park.
I would like to wish our Dads a Happy Fathers Day. The teams win certainly made a great present. Well Done Matt B on remembering the team shirts & dry socks.
Laser Tag is this Thursday night at 7pm for all team members. Training will of course continue to be held on Tuesdays & Thursdays, all team members are to attend. There is no match for the team next weekend 12/9/10. Again guys congratulations on your win today, you should be proud of your efforts. Well done to John it wouldn't have happened without your dedication.

Aug 29 M18C vs Gosford , Result: 1 - 4 Loss
Todays match was the last game in the round of the stop, start 2010 season. Possibly not the result the team hoped for, but not the end of the world either. The team finished in 2nd place. Gosford finished in 1st, Killarney finished in 3rd & Wyoming finished in 4th place. These 4 teams are all into the Finals Series. Both the Major & Minor Semi Final will be played at Mangrove Mountain on Fathers Day, next Sunday. We will verse Gosford in the Major Semi Final & Killarney will verse Wyoming in the Minor Semi Final. The winner of the Major Semi goes to the Grand Final on 19/9/10 at Pluim Park. The loser of the Major Semi plays the winner of the Minor Semi Final in the Finals Match on Sunday 12/9/10 again at Mangrove Mountain. The winner of the Finals match then plays the Winner of the Major Semi Final in the Grand Final.
Todays game was not going to change the table standings in any way, shape or form. As John stressed to the guys before the match what was important was that our team get through this match injury free & without incurring any red cards so that everyone is able to compete in the Finals series. To the teams credit they have played this season without any player incurring a yellow or red card - a real testament to the way these guys play their soccer - hard but fair & without malice. Thankfully any injuries incurred today appear to be minor rather than career ending.
At training during the week the team indicated that they were keen to play todays game. Unfortunately for the game the match officials rostered for the game weren't so keen & only 1 official could be provided. Never an ideal number when playing Gosford.
The result isn't a true reflection of the match. Kincumber were right in this match & produced plenty of goal scoring opportunities that just didn't come off today. However persistance & practice pays, so hopefully the next few matches will see the team reap some rewards in the goal scoring department. Robert was absent with a hamstring injury & couldn't play in todays match. His return for the finals will greatly benefit the team. James was with the team today & did a great job interchanging in the back row - injecting some real height & presence. One simple area that can be corrected for the team is the on field communication between players. Once again this needs to increase and remain positive. Encouragement & enthusiasm can really lift the team.
Todays prematch warm-up was at best laid back, an approach that must change during the next few weeks. Your team is in the Final Series, so lets approach training & match day like you mean business & want to win the Grand Final. When you play as a team you are unbeatable, but for the team to function you all need to do your part to the best of your ability & that includes prematch intensity & application. So guys the late nights, sleep ins & hangovers, will have to disappear for the next 2 to 3 Sunday mornings!!! It is also to be hoped that the Association can produce 3 officials per match for the Finals Series.
John awarded Player of the Match & washer of the team shirts award to Matt B. Another great game Matt B, showing initiative & commitment. I'm still not keen on the idea of you & live rounds, however lets see how much your aim improves in the next few weeks.
Well done to the teams lone goal scorer today - Matt Q who decided to use his head & not his boot to score the teams only goal. A great header Matt.
Reminder guys that next Sunday is Fathers Day & is also Nathans 16th Birthday. What better present than booking a spot in the Grand Final?
All team members today received a CD containing action shots of the team taken during the last few games. A huge thanks goes to Phil Whalley, Matts dad, for taking the shots & producing the CD. They are terrific photos & greatly appreciated. Thankyou Phil.

Aug 22 M18C vs Killarney , Result: 2 - 1 Win
Well done to the team today as it continues on its winning way to the Major Semi Finals. Todays report will have to be short & sweet as I'm pushed for time. With a full turnout for todays game the team fielded 11 players & had 3 on the interchange bench.
The team has been steadily building its intensity each week since the last Terrigal match. Today the defense did well defusing Killarneys kick & chase attack. Our fully interchangeable forwards & midfielders did a solid job of applying pressure to the Killarney defense & keeper all match. Both of Kincumbers goals were scored in the 1st half today. Matt B & Travis added to their goal tally for the season with an excellent goal each. Sadly none of Kincumbers other numerous goal shots were successful. James was with the team today & did an excellent job of spelling Blake from the keepers position, & Blake made the most of having a game out on the field.
Stand out players in todays game included the 3 Rugs, I mean Matts, who continue to prove what a talented bunch they are. Jason had an outstanding game with some truly awesome clearance & corner kicks. Beau, Tyler & Nathan are proving to be a solid defensive combination especially when combined with Matt W as sweeper. Travis, Robert, Phil, David & Josh interchanged positions all game & worked hard in whatever position was asked of them.
John mentioned Laser Tag for the team this Friday - could prove to be a novel form of target practice for the teams game against Gosford next Sunday.
Player of the Match this week was awarded by John to Matt W for a really comprehensive performance in the sweeper role today. Not bad for a guy with a strained back. No more wrestling matches Matt - I don't care if their your best mates since pre-school, we need you fit & well for the Final Series.
Training continues as usual this week. See everyone at Gavenlock Oval at 8am next Sunday.

Aug 15 M18C vs Southern Ettalong , Result: 4 - 2 Win
The team continued on its winning way today puting together a solid win against Southern Ettalong. Wet weather again disrupted team training this week & the guys only got in 1 nights training before todays game. Although the teams basics are pretty solid, with the finals just 2 more matches away, there are still elements that need a bit of tweaking & polish. All in all though todays game had more positives than negatives.
Southern Ettalong played strongly & gave our guys a solid workout. Our attack created plenty of goal scoring opportunities & were certainly taking their shots. Sthn Ettalongs keeper did a great job restricting Kincumber to just 4, & he was also the driving force in his teams attacking play. His clearing kicks always reached halfway or beyond & were the impetus of their kick & chase game. Our defense was kept busy all game rounding up & defusing Sthn Ettalongs kick & chase attack.
Food for thought guys - for every goal we didn't convert, there was a corresponding counter attack care of their keeper. Ergo more Kincumber goal shot accuracy would have meant less work for our defense. It's worth noting that Gosford & Killarney also use a similar technique to punish wayward goal shots.
As todays photo line-up proved, Kincumbers defense contains most of our teams vertically challenged members, & today they were up against guys a good half head to a head taller than they were. It was surprising to hear that their team mates expected their defenders to head the ball instead of letting it bounce, even Sthn Ettalongs tallest players struggled to reach the clearance ball. To their credit your defenders never stopped contesting the ball. Blake again played strongly all game in the keeper position & he was ably supported by Matt W, Beau, Tyler & Nathan. Their play may not always be pretty, but they are never half hearted & more often than not they are effective.
All Kincumbers goals were scored in the 1st half whilst Sthn Ettalong scored a goal per half. The teams goal scorers today were Robert & Josh with a goal each & Jason scored 2 goals & had his hat trick ruled offside. The teams wingers, Matt B & Matt Q both had outstanding games today & were invaluable in attack, & were instrumental in many of todays goals, though they both had all their goal shots denied. With accuracy a factor, I'm not convinced that I want Matt B firing live rounds!! Our Midfielders & forwards interchanged all match. David, Jason, Josh, Phil, Robert & Travis gave solid support to the teams defenders & were responsible for some terrific attacking plays, although they did manage to find the keeper with uncanny accuracy especially in the 2nd half.
There were 2 Play of the Match moments this game:- Matt Ws goal box to goal box sideline run showed his absolute determination to score a goal this season; & Nathans goal denying header to prevent Sthn Ettalongs 3rd goal showed real commitment & determination.
Todays Purple Heart award goes to Mr 3ply, Travis, who had the flu, copped a heavy kick on his ankle, when his foot was mistaken for the ball, but toughed it out & battled on.
John awarded Player of the Match to Beau who had another great game in defense & just continues to grow in stature as a player each week. Congratulation Beau.
I would like thank all our players & parents for having the entire team at their Photo Session so promptly this morning. Well done to Matt B for remembering the team shirts. Thanks also go to James for attending the photo session even though he wasn't playing in todays match.

Aug 08 M18C vs Terrigal , Result: 7 - 1 Win
The team had a fairly "cruisey" lead up to todays match, with last weekends match a washout & Frost Reserve closed for training all week, John got the team together on Thursday night for Pizzas & to watch the Mariners game.
The team hadn't played Terrigal since May - the other 2 scheduled games were washouts. Where we had all our team turn up ready to play soccer, Terrigal only had 9 players turn up for todays game. To their credit the 9 players who did turn up, played very well & put in a determined effort all game.
The 1st half of the match was well constructed & the team established a solid score of 5 goals to 1 by half time. Having built a strong lead, John used the 2nd half of the match to keep a promise to the team, & let the guys try different positions. Most of our backs got a run as forwards & midfielders; midfielders became wingers; forwards became backs & wingers became everything & anything. The only position that wasn't played was left, right, out. It all looked a tad confused at times, but everyone had fun, enjoyed their soccer game & still managed another 2 goals, with heaps of near misses.
There were 5 goal scorers today. Jason & Josh both scored 2 goals each - narrowly missing out on hat tricks. David continued to impress with his goal scoring ability, with yet another fine goal. Matt B celebrated his acceptance into the Army with a fine goal in the 1st half. I'm a little worried that most of his 2nd half shots went wide of the target. Ok when it's a ball, look out when it's a bullet!! Just kidding Matt, you'll impress them with your grenade lobbing ability - just not the wrong-un you produced against Killarney!! Nathan scored his 2nd goal of the season - another freakish shot from just inside halfway that again beat the keeper & found the back of the net. Great work all our goal scorers. Commiserations again go to Matt W, Tyler & Beau - I don't know why the goal gods don't like you guys, & although you weren't rewarded with a goal you all played very well in unfamiliar positions today. Thanks go to Blake, who was willing to miss playing in the game today in order to referee the match, when it appeared there was no referee scheduled & the game would have to be forfeited. James donned the keeper kit & stepped up for Blake, who wasn't required to referee & instead got to have a run out on the field. Good job James in the keeper role & a very unselfish offer by Blake. Thanks guys.
Rob, Travis, Matt Q & Phil all had busy games today, covering a variety of positions & contributing non-stop all match.
Play of Match went to Matt Q for his inverted, bicycle kick - would have been a spectacular goal if that move had come off.
John awarded Player of the Match to Nathan, for a fine defensive
effort but mainly for his freaky goal. Great shot Nathan.
Training if possible will be on Tuesday & Thursday. The team plays Southern Ettalong, weather permitting next Sunday at Frost.

Aug 01 M18C vs Wyoming , Result: 2 - 2 Draw
Yet another washed out round with no soccer played.

Jul 25 M18C vs Gosford , Result: 2 - 2 Draw
I'm sorry to advise you guys that CCF have declared the round a washout & Gosford have had yet another loss recorded as a washout. So sorry guys, you don't have to tell me how wrong this policy is. The match report remains, because you played & won a great match - although the Gosford Coach reckons Kincumber didn't win, Gosford just played badly.
MATCH REPORT: The team continued its winning streak with a fine victory today over Gosford. This match was an important game for the team - they have now defeated Gosford, consolidated 2nd spot & played like absolute champions in the process. This was an enthralling match to watch. Kincumber played this match with real intensity & conviction. The teams focus & drive remained unshakeable.Every aspect of the teams game came together today. Our attacking forays were on target,& were made with timing & pace. Every attacking play required determined efforts from the Gosford defense & keeper to prevent Kincumber scoring. Our teams willingness & ability to create scoring opportunities from any number of players is a true asset & was very evident in todays game. David, Josh, Rob, Jason, Matt B, Matt Q, & Travis all played very committed & outstanding soccer. Josh again displayed a real willingness to follow the play through to the end, & was in the box time & time again, ready to pounce on any loose balls or keeper fumbles.
The teams defenders this match were absolutely rock solid. Blake had an outstanding game as keeper. Beau, Matt W, Tyler & Nathan were a tight unit. They contested strongly, stuck to their opponent, & stripped & cleared balls consistently all match. They communicated, backed each other up & covered like men possessed. Beau & Tyler shut
down the sidelines, & Nathan & Matt W contested absolutely every ball that came their way. A truly impressive performance out there today guys.
With James at the match, we had an interchange bench of 3 & on a boggy field fresh legs were important. James was interchanged in the back row today to give our hardworking defenders a breather. All goals this match came in the 2nd half. The team denied Gosford any points at all for almost 70 minutes of the game, an extraordinary effort guys. Kincumber opened todays scoring with David again converting a terrific penalty shot. Josh scored the teams 2nd goal when he headed a cross kick into the back of the net. Hard to say who was more excited by these goals - the team or their supporters.
Gosfords goal was a messy affair that the defense just couldn't quite clear. A small blemish on an otherwise spotless performance. The team communication this game was the best it has ever been. Players were aware all match of their position, who was marking who, who needed any assistance. There were so many positives to come out of this match. The team has now defeated every team in their division. Wyoming have also beaten Gosford & we have beaten Wyoming. This all augers well for the team in the run home to the business end of the season at the end of August. Well done team on an excellent match, so satisfying to see the components you practice at training, working for you in a match.
Todays Play of the Match was the entire game. John awarded Player of
the Match to the entire team - so it's pizzas all round!! This reward is made that much sweeter, when compared to the verbal spray the Gosford team were treated to at half time & full time courtesy of their "coach".
Training is on Tuesday & Thursday this week as usual - weather permitting & all players are to be there. Next Sundays match is against Wyoming at Wyoming, fingers crossed for dry weather.

Jul 18 M18C vs Killarney , Result: 4 - 3 Win
The team put together its' 5th win today & are now in outright 2nd place on the table. An excellent result guys - well done, especially as the 2010 stop, start soccer season saw the team take to the field, having had no training for a fortnight & no game last weekend.
The guys put together a great first half. Moving themselves & the ball with precision & timing, they put sustained pressure on the Killarney defense. There were some truly great passages of play all over the park. Our forwards, midfield & wingers displayed real flair & skill. Josh & David, who both missed the last match, were making their presence felt this match. David was having a real impact, having scored the teams 2 opening goals when, unfortunately for David & the team, he was sidelined for the rest of the match with a sprained ankle. Josh & Matt Q both joined David on the scoreboard with a goal each to their credit. Excellent work by the Killarney goalie all match, meant that Jas, Rob, Travis, Matt B & Phils many, many, many goal shots went unrewarded - well done guys you made the opportunities & you took your shots - the Killarney keeper had to work really hard all match to deny you.
With James absent again today with refereeing, Blake stepped into the keepers position & played really well for the team. Our defenders did a great job of containing Killarneys attack in the first half, restricting Killarney to only 1 goal. Having only 1 sideline official was really telling in the 2nd half. Beau, Matt, Nathan & Tyler worked tirelessly all match to defend the teams lead, to clear the ball from their half & to give our attack every opportunity to score more points. Their play may not have always been pretty, & sometimes it wasn't as effective as they would have liked, but as always they were in there giving it everything they had. Great effort guys.
A lack of match fitness began to tell in the 2nd half. However the guys toughed it out & came home winners. Fingers crossed that we can get in some training this week to prepare for the match against Gosford.
Again there were many contenders for todays Player of the Match. Josh had a great game, really getting involved, showing great skills & initiative & keeping real pressure on the keeper all game. Rob was again in the thick of things all match - with dazzling footwork, backing up & excellent passing, he was a real joy to watch. Jas as always was as hardworking as ever. His throw-ins, corners & running game were invaluable to the team. The 3 Matts (1 more & we'd have enough for a carpet), were as always in contention with yet another great game apiece - although Matt B, blotted his copy book by sleeping in & missing part of the 1st half. Tyler & Nathan both had strong games & played with real commitment. Travis & Phil were just so unlucky not to get on the scoreboard today, both played some great soccer. Blake again did a great job, working hard all match to keep Kincumber in the lead.
The hotly contested Player of the Match & washer of the teams dirty shirts, was awarded by John to Beau for a really top effort in defense today. Well done & well deserved, Beau.
A special mention to David, who was having a brilliant game before spraining his ankle. Hope the ankles not too painful & that you mend quickly - the team plays Gosford next week & will need you!

Jul 04 M18C vs Southern Ettalong , Result: 6 - 3 Win
A strong win for the team today against Southern Ettalong. With no subs again this game, the starting 11 were out there for the whole match, come hell, highwater or compound fractures, & they all had a great game. Josh & David were both too unwell to play, but came along & supported their team mates - good attitude guys!! James was absent with refereeing duties. John made some important position changes this match. Blake was goalkeeper, Matt W was Sweeper extraordinaire, Matt B was on the left wing, Matt Q was on the right wing, Phil was a midfielder & Jason was a tour de force in the forwards. As experiments go this was a resounding success - maybe a patent should be applied for? The new positions created some interesting combinations. Matt Q & Jason were an almost psychic duo, whilst Matt B & Travis, playing as a forward, continued to work well off each other again this match. The pairing of Rob & Phil in the midfield was another winning combination. Their playing styles complimented one another, & allowed them to both play relaxed, confident, unselfish soccer which saw them give great support to their team mates in both attack & defense.
The defense was anchored by a voluble Blake, who stepped up & did a
fine job of keeping for the team today. He performed some great saves - hopefully the ribs feel better soon. Tyler was in the thick of things, making some great clearance plays & gaining valuable metres with his throw-ins. He also managed to save his brothers bacon on a number of occasions. Beau as always was busy, competing & trying hard all game, never giving his opponent an easy shot. Nathan had a solid game in the centres & was rewarded with 10 mins as a forward. If only the referee had held off blowing the full time whistle for 1 more second, we may have been celebrating Nathans 2nd goal of the season. Better luck next time.
The teams 6 goals were scored by 3 players. Jason had an outstanding
match & scored 4 goals for the team, hat trick + 1. Jas displayed real composure & skill. Rob & Matt Q joined Jas on the scoreboard with a fine goal each. They were important goals guys - well done. Matt B, Travis & Phil had numerous shots denied & were disappointed not to make it onto the scoreboard.
Game Highlight: The team worked hard all match to create goal scoring opportunities, & their goal attempts made the Sthn Ettalong Keeper work hard to deny almost every shot taken.
Several players put themselves in contention for the teams Player of
the Match Award. John awarded Player of the Match to the very deserving Matt Whalley, who stepped into the Sweepers role & took to
it like a duck to water, & as always gave 110% effort.
Special Mention to team Captain & our new Goal Shark - Jason with 4 goals this match. No pressure but how about a double hat trick next match?
Hopefully all our sick, injured & recovering continue to mend. Training is as usual during the holidays. There is no game until - 18/7/10 against Killarney at EDSAAC.
** Breaking News Guys, Terrigal have defeated Wyoming 2 nil today -you've moved up the ladder into 2nd spot. YAY TEAM!!!

Jun 27 M18C vs Terrigal , Result: 2 - 2 Draw
Sorry guys, with Duffys Oval closed the team has been dealt another
washout round.

Jun 20 M18C vs Wyoming , Result: 3 - 3 Draw
Seems we're the team Wyoming cannot defeat!!! The score shows a 3 all draw but you guys were winners out there today, the unawarded 4th goal proves that. With James, Robert, & Matt Q unable to play in this match, you guys went out there, with 3 players recovering from a car accident, 1 dud hip, 2 dud ankles, 2 dud knees & no subs & did yourselves proud. I know you were all spewing at the decision not to award the 4th goal, but the team is to be congratulated on your display of maturity & self control. None of you started swearing, ranting or raving. You were justifiably disappointed but you held it together, got on with the game & went back on the attack. I was extremely proud of you all & I believe that was the play of the match!!
We had 3 goal scorers today. Two of our accident victims made it onto the scoreboard with Travis opening the match points scoring the teams 1st goal (& also scoring our disallowed 4th goal), well done Travis - 2 goals next game sees you entitled to the 3ply!!
Lucky "Phil", backed himself down the left wing from over half way, taking the ball to the goal box & puting it past the keeper for the teams 2nd goal. I don't know what was in your water bottle but please bring enough for all your team mates next match. It certainly did the trick for you. A really terrific goal, Phil.
Matt B was our third goal scorer today, booting an excellent goal into the back of the net, & really unlucky not to have a few more goals to his credit.
There were some fine efforts today all over the paddock. Our combinations are rebuilding, & everyones level of commitment is increasing. The team was a little sluggish at times but you worked hard to overcome this & you really shone as a team when you were moving yourselves & the ball - your final 20 minutes showed real commitment & desire.
Our backs today were anchored by Blake, who did the team proud in the goalie position. Tyler, Beau & Nathan worked tirelessly all match with their sweeps Jas & Matt B. Josh & Travis did the forward honours & both looked to get involved in the play all match. Our midfielders held their form really well - David with Jas or Matt B were right in the thick of things. Last but not least Matt W & Phil our wingers who as always, put in yet another fine match apiece.
Today was a turning point for the team, not only did they find the equalising goal that has been eluding them in previous matches, they found it & built on it. Onwards & upwards from now on.
John awarded Player of the Match Award to the teams Captain - Jason who put together yet another never say die performance.
John has arranged fitness training for the team at Kincumber Gym on Tuesday, & it is imperative that all players attend. Hospitalisation or a death certificate might be the only acceptable excuse for non-attendance.

Jun 13 M18C vs Gosford , Result: 1 - 2 Loss
Welcome back sportsfans, after 3 rounds of washouts it's great to be able to report that the grounds finally dried out enough for this match to be played. The whole team was at the grounds early, keen & eager to get on the soccer field & play a match. No training or games for weeks on end was not the lead up the team needed when versing Gosford, however everyone got out there & gave it a red hot go. The team was able to surprise Gosford & get the first point on the scoreboard. Some fine teamwork resulted in Josh puting a really fine goal shot past the Gosford goalie.
Gosfords equalising goal came after a brilliant diving save by James just jolted out of his hands as he landed & it was pounced on by a Gosford player. The team was struggling a bit with match awareness, & positional play when Gosford got its' 2nd goal, still relatively early in the 1st half. Kincumber got itself together, players improved their backing each other up & importantly started clearing the ball to each other, not just kicking it willy nilly. Half-time arrived with Gosford leading 2-1.
The 2nd half saw Kincumbers combinations begin to click again. The last 30 minutes of this half were absolutely intense. Kincumber were attacking strongly, taking every opportunity to promote the ball for a team mate or to take a shot. Our defenders did a great job of containing & shutting down the Gosford attack. They relentlessly foiled Gosfords attackers & James & Jason kept puting up excellent clearing kicks that got Kincumber right back onto the attack. Kincumber launched an absolute bombardment of attacking play against the Gosford goal from every direction - down the sidelines & through the midfield & forwards. This forced Gosford to concentrate on their defense - they had to throw 7 of their players into defending their goal. Unfortunately for Kincumber the much tried for, equalising goal continued to prove elusive. Time & time again the equalising goal shot was taken only to be denied. The entire team tried extremely hard today, with everyone playing their positions well & looking to make a positive contribution. Special mentions go to:
Josh for just getting in there, getting involved, always backing up & following the ball in to put real pressure on the goalie all match.
Matt W who again played with 110% commitment, constantly puting his body on the line in both attack & defense. Surely the Goalie Gods will grant you a goal soon.
David substituted brilliantly off the bench, he was composed & assertive in defense & always looked dangerous on the attack. The spectators gave his sideline ball control skills a 9 out of 10.
Robert attacked with flair & determination all game & his goal shot that slammed into the goal post deserved a better outcome for the team. Jason & Nathan did a great job of shutting down the centre of field in defense, forcing Gosford to take their attacking runs down the sideline, where Beau & Tyler were making life very difficult for them. Matt B & Matt Q were both heavily marked this match, but still proved a handful for their opponents. Travis & Blake got out there & did what was asked of them as they interchanged in a variety of positions on field today. Well done to James for ensuring that Gosford remained scoreless in the 2nd half - you gave your team mates every opportunity to equalise.
Player of the Match was today awarded by John to Phil. Yet another outstanding match on the left wing, with some very near misses in the goal scoring department. Well done Phil.
Hopefully training is on this week. If Frost is closed, but it isn't raining everyone meet at Frost & the team will go for a run. Might I suggest that everyone says a few prayers to the deity of yr choice, for the weather to stay dry.

Jun 06 M18C vs Killarney , Result: 2 - 2 Draw
Sorry guys, the weather Gods continue to frown on us - with yet another washed out round of soccer. Well done to Matt W, Beau, Tyler, Blake, Jason, Nathan & John who all made it to Kincumber Gym on Friday for a training session.

May 30 M18C vs Southern Ettalong , Result: 2 - 2 Draw
Disappointingly the round was again a washout. Sorry to say the Weather forcast doesn't sound very promising for the coming week either.

May 23 M18C vs Terrigal , Result: 2 - 2 Draw
Unfortunately the weather was against the team this weekend. The Round was declared a washout and each team received a 2-2 draw & 1 point. Certainly not the result we were looking for. Hopefully the conditions improve during the week & a game is possible next weekend.

May 16 M18C vs Wyoming , Result: 5 - 1 Win
Round 6 saw us playing Wyoming for the 2nd time this season, & what a difference a few weeks made to the scoreline. Today Wyoming experienced its 1st defeat of the season & Kincumber returned to the winners circle in a convincing fashion. Well done guys, a really commendable effort from the whole team this match. John was particularly pleased that the match components worked on at training were really evident today. It was also great to see the whole team at the field well before kick-off, & the committed pregame warm-up paid dividends for the team from the word go.
Blakes ankle injury saw him sidelined for most of this match - much to his disgust. The teams other sick & injured all appear to be on the mend.
Today the team had 4 goal scorers - Matt B making up for no goals on his birthday, scored 2, & Jason, Rob & Matt Q had a goal each. Well done to all of you.
Rob returned from illness, & in partnership with David & an interchanging Travis, had huge games in the midfield, providing great support to our attackers & defenders all match. Our defenders worked tirelessly & their interaction, marking & talking really shone in the 2nd half. With Jas & then Matt B sweeping relentlessly, Beau & Tyler worked at shutting down the sidelines & Nathan concentrated his efforts on the centre of the field.
Our attackers were being fed plenty of balls. Tyler was clearing through to Josh, Matt W & Matt Q & they always looked threatening when the ball made it to the right wing. Some really lovely passing, tricky footwork & running of the ball led to some great crosses into the goal box for our forwards & midfielders. A real pleasure to watch guys.
The once, apparently, under-utilised left wing had the work out of its' life today. Beau was clearing plenty of balls through for Phil, who combined with Rob & David & the forwards to be in the thick of things all game.
James was right in this game, performing solid goal saves, providing excellent clearing kicks & pulling off a really nice leaping goal save in the 2nd half!! Way to go.
Game Low-Light: A Wyoming Player incurring a red card.
Game High-Light: Positional play & match awareness.
Play of the Match: Jasons penalty kick from beyond halfway, became goal of the Match.
John awarded Player of the Match to Phil for his outstanding game on the "formerly under-utilised" left wing.
John will see everyone at Training on Tuesday & Thursday nights. We're versing Terrigal at Terrigal next weekend.

May 09 M18C vs Gosford , Result: 2 - 3 Loss
After a really top effort by all our guys in todays match, the team disappointingly dipped out on any points for this round. Once again you played some really committed soccer, that unfortunately didn't result in the outcome you deserved. With the team missing Robert, who was too ill to play, & Blake covering James' goalie position our midfield was decimated & had to be reworked. It took the team a bit of time to gel, & the guys found themselves absorbing a lot of early pressure from a revved up Gosford. Our defence came under the gun initially & Gosford were up 2 goals very quickly. Beau, Matt B, Nathan & Tyler regrouped & steadied the play, & gave a hard working Blake some strong support & Gosfords goals scoring soon dried up. The team improved its' playmaking & our attackers David, Jas, Josh, Matt W & Matt Q & Travis set about applying pressure to a truly excellent Gosford Goalie who consistently repelled goal shots all match. At half time we hadn't converted any of the many, many goal shots & came in trailing Gosford 2-0. Jason & Matt B were the only position changes made for the 2nd half
Despite an early goal to Gosford in the 2nd half, the team lifted its' intensity & played beautifully. All credit to you guys you never gave up. A committed backline just kept scrambling & clearing never allowing anyone an uncontested goal shot. Our attackers continued applying pressure, and kept taking their shots at goal. All this perserverence finally paid dividends when a goal shot from Josh found the back of the net. Allelujah!!! The team were quickly back on the attack & had its' 2nd goal care of David. The team was coming home strongly & Gosford was rattled. Unfortunately the much tried for equalising goal, just kept eluding the team today.
Match Low-Lights:- 2 of Gosfords players received a red card & a yellow card. Matt B was denied a goal on his 18th Birthday!!
And Blake stepped into the goalie position & got a kick to the jaw for his efforts.
Match High-Lights:- Very few of our goal shots went over the goals today. Jason returned from his back injury & was again in the thick of things. Matt W, made a welcome return & played with unequaled enthusiasm & determination. Player of the Match was a tight run affair & was today awarded to a fully recovered & deserving Matt Q.

May 02 M18C vs Killarney , Result: 1 - 2 Loss
Sorry for the delay in putting up this match report guys. I've had to be extremely diplomatic in writing this report so I can't comment on some areas of this match. The result shows a loss of 2-1 for the team - just typing that result feels wrong. The score was no way indicative of the game played.
The team played strongly, & there were consistantly outstanding passages of play all match.
It is hard to believe that out of the bizillion goal shots the whole team fired at the goals only 1 shot was successful!! Bizillion is not an exageration my goal shot page was completely coloured in. Our lone goal scorer this match was Josh. Kincumber were all over this game & at any given stage a goal was imminent. Our attacking raids were coming from every part of the field. Jason was having a great game as sweeper before receiving a back injury that sidelined him for most of the match. Killarney opened the scoring against the run of play. Kincumber answered with Joshs' goal and the score was 1-1 at half time.
The 2nd half was remarkable for many reasons - most of which I cannot comment on. Of interest were the number of studdings and leg injuries our team received. For once our list of injured players outnumbered our goal scorers. Injured this match were Jason, Blake, Travis, Nathan & Phil. Matt Qs return to full fitness continued & thankfully didn't receive a serious setback. Matt Ws hamstring injury kept him sidelined & his presence was missed. Killarneys 2nd goal again came against the run of play.
Play of the match went to Matt B who introduced his "Throw-in Wrong-Un". Come in spinner!!
Player of the Match was awarded to Tyler Marchant who was a real force in both attack & defense all game.
Training is again on Tuesday & Thursday this week. Home match on Sunday.

Apr 26 M18C vs Southern Ettalong , Result: 6 - 1 Win
Well done guys, another excellent result for the team. With the loss of James, a new Goalkeeper was needed. Congratulations to Blake for stepping up & doing a great job, remaining steady under pressure & making some great saves. The team welcomed back Matt Q from injury, & though still not 100% put in an impressive effort.
Kincumber played into a strong headwind for all of the 1st half. The guys got off to a determined start. Out attackers led by Matt B, really applied pressure to the Sthn Ettalong goalie & defenders. Our goal shots were being well executed & were coming from all over the field from Josh, Rob, Matt W, Phill, Travis, David & Matt Q. Kincumber opened the scoring, after sustained pressure resulted in a goal to Matt B. Matt Bs' 2nd goal came only a few minutes later after a very nicely timed pass from Josh. Sthn Ettalong were right in this match & were giving our defence plenty of work to do. Jason had another strong half as sweeper clearing the ball, and was well supported by the backs, Beau, Tyler & Nathan who covered well and scrambled hard. Sthn Ettalong scored a very good goal minutes before half time. Kincumber responded strongly and were soon back on the attack. Our next goal saw a great corner kick, cleverly toed into the back of the net by Rob. Half time and Kincumber were leading 3-1. Yay team!!
Jason & Matt B again swapped striker & sweeper roles for the 2nd half & played beautifully in both roles. The strong wind died away and conditions warmed up. Within the opening minutes of the 2nd half, an excellent piece of play saw Phil join his team mates on the scoreboard. Then another sustained piece of attacking pressure was rewarded with an "own" goal. Matt Ws hard work all match, again went unrewarded with a goal today. David & Robs huge efforts all match, in the midfield were really commendable. Our final goal was booted in by Travis - and was a fitting piece of revenge. Final score 6-1 with 5 goal scorers.
Player of the Match was awarded to Rob Beckert for his excellent work all match in the midfield. John will see you all on Tuesday & Thursday nights @ 7pm for training.

Apr 18 M18C vs Terrigal , Result: 7 - 1 Win
Amazing the difference two (2) training sessions & fielding a squad of 13 makes to a team. A really terrific result today & yr coach, manager & supporters couldn't be happier for the guys. A great way to welcome David, Josh & Travis to the team.
The team really clicked together - everyone played their positions with flair & skill, & constantly backed each other up. John had made position changes during the week, & they certainly paid dividends today.
Interestingly our 7 goals today were scored by 6 players. Our forwards started the scoring when Matt B booted in a lovely goal, & Josh put away a tricky worm burner. David upheld the midfield honour with two (2) really excellent goals before half time.
John made some "experimental" position changes to the team at half time.
Matt Ws move onto the right wing was impressive. His shots into the goal box were inspired and resulted in a fabulous header from Jason to open the 2nd half scoring. Terrigal responded with a goal that a diving James got a hand too but just couldn't deflect. Phills' hard work all match on the left wing was deservingly rewarded with a well struck goal. Our last goal scorer this game was our centre back, Nathan, who put away a goalie dropout from over the half way line. It was a beautifully, freakish goal that was worth waiting 10 years to see.
As excellent as these goals were, there so easily could have been more players joining their teammates on the scoreboard. Robs play all match was unselfish & intelligent, Matt W put in really excellent crosses & shots, & Travis many goal shots all went unrewarded but not unappreciated. Our midfielders, goalie, backs & sweepers cannot be overlooked. James,Beau, Blake, Tyler & Nathan were rock solid in their positions all match and worked hard to deny Terrigal any close goal shots. Jason & Matt B did a half each as sweeper & striker and were again extremely effective in both positions.
Player of the Match was awarded to Nathan Grennan with honourable mentions to Matt Whalley, Rob Beckert, David Nolan, Phill Bourne, Matt Buddeke & Jason Dunkin. Matt Q was unable to play in todays game. Hopefully the doctor has good news for you this week. Sadly for the team, it appears likely that we will be losing our Goalkeeper - James.
Once again congratulations on a great result today & we will see everyone at training on Tuesday & Thursday night from 7pm to 8.30pm.

Apr 11 M18C vs Wyoming , Result: 1 - 1 Draw
A really remarkable game of soccer today - hard to believe the guys hadn't trained together as a team. With such a disasterous pre-season, you are all to be congratulated for hanging in there & for turning up today & giving such an outstanding account of yourselves.
Wyoming, struck the opening goal early in the 1st half, whilst our team was still finding its feet. The guys kept their composure and set about working together, trying to establish combinations & constantly backing each other up. In very warm conditions the team ran themselves ragged, containing Wyomings attack & launching counter attacks at the Wyoming Goalie.
Having no reserves to draw on, the team stuck to their guns & came off at half time behind by only one goal.
John made a change in sides for our wingers Phillip & Nathan, & moved Matt Buddeke to sweeper, & Jason to the forwards. A good talk & lots of water later, & the team was was underway for the 2nd half. All the teams hard work was finally rewarded with a goal, after a very determined effort from Robert.
A strong game from the Wyoming Keeper saw shot after shot denied. An equally strong game from our keeper, James, kept Wyoming scoreless in the second half. Nice work James.
Really top efforts today from our wounded - Jason and Robert, and from Matt Walley, Blake, Beau, Matt Quick, Tyler, Phillip & Nathan.
PLAYER OF THE MATCH today was awarded to Matt Buddeke for an outstanding effort as striker and as sweeper. Congratulations Matt.
Todays match was a credit to all of the team, everyone dug deep and never gave up trying. See you all at training on Tuesday at 7pm.
