Aug 28 U10A vs Kanwal , Result: 2 - 1 Win
Last game of the comp before the semi's & this is a do or die game for Kanwal, a win would see them into the top four. But equally as important for us to keep the momentum going leading up to the boys 1st taste of semi final football. We started the game so well with the boys playing some really great football knocking the ball around to each other building up our attack from both sides of the park. The passing, calling & getting into space paid off when we hit the lead after a wonderful build up & finish by Tom 1-0.2nd half was started equally as good with the boys doing almost everything the same as the 1st half when with another teriffic passage of play we jumped to a 2-0 lead half way through the 2nd stanza with a great goal by Damo, but then thats when the boys may have thought the game was as good as over because to Kanwals credit they put a bit more pressure on our guys from a corner to put one on us 2-1 & they really lifted almost equalising in the dieing stages of the game only to be denied by some great keeping from Matthew in goals, who also was our player of the week well done Matthew. Now boys coming into the semi's we have got to keep focussed for the whole game from start to finish as we know other teams will be trying ever so hard to knock over the League Champions(yes thats all you guys)Good luck in the finals boys-Guy

Aug 22 U10A vs Ourimbah , Result: 3 - 0 Win
Last catch up game (get our Sundays back)Up against Ourimbah 2nd week in a row so the boys should have known this was going to be tough. The game started off well with the boys hammering there goal but with out any luck balls over the bar ,just wide of the post etc things were looking good, but after a head count I see that Ourimbah has only 9 players. With the boys realising this we started getting cocky & missing many chances.Ourimbah started to get on top of our boys & began to dominate coming close a few times to score.0-0 at half time.Boys we really have to get back to basics & do the little things right or we will get punished.2nd half was a bit better with us getting wide & spreading the ball taking advantage of the extra space with heaps of crosses coming in from both sides, eventually we scored through a nice strike from B1 another from Maty & the last being a header from Tom. Player of the match went to Maty for his great crosses & passing back well done Maty.Boys we really have to lift & play every game as if it is a grand final as you know EVERY team wants to knock over the PREMIERS we dont want to come this far & fall at the last hurdle-Guy

Aug 21 U10A vs Berkeley Vale , Result: 2 - 1 Win
Berkely Vale made the trip down to Frost today knowing a win today could help them make it closer to the semi's.The whole game was a tight tussle & they really wanted to show us that they were here to play. The ball seemed to be in our half most of the time but our boys defended well during this period & built up our attack in spasms to cause them problems. Again I had to tell the boys that all teams we play will step it up a notch so we inturn must do the same. The boys lifted enough & pulled together to survive the onslaught that Berkeley threw at us with a hard fought 2-1 win.Goals to Damo & a penalty to Maty.Player of the week went to Liam (B1) for he's passing & heading in the midfield ,well done B1.Boys stay focussed-Guy

Aug 15 U10A vs Ourimbah , Result: 3 - 0 Win
The 2nd last catch up game for the year against Ourimbah who we have only met once this year & that being a very hard fought 2-1 win.I spoke to the boys about this & reminded them that if they(OUR) win their remaining games they could sneak into the top 4 so not to take them lightly, also in the same breath(not being able to wait till after the game) I congratulated all MY boys for wrapping up the Minor Premiership with 4 games to go A WONDERFULL ACHIEVEMENT FROM EACH & EVERYONE OF YOU.Maybe a small mistake from me as the boys were very slow to switch on & were beaten to the ball most of the first half not to mention the thunder storm that whipped up from no where. The game until then looked like it wasnt going our way until Conor followed a shot in from B1 spilled by the keeper & smacked it into the back of the net for his 1st goal this year. After some better words of wisdom at the break the boys settle back into their normal pattern of winning 50/50 balls, playing wide & knocking the ball around as they do so well to start dominating the 2nd half again with Damo slotting the second goal home.To top the game off the boys pressure resulted in many corners where we did a short corner & B1 crossed the ball in beautifully for the ever so tall
Damo to head home the 3rd goal.Much improved 2nd half boys but we must focus for the whole game for ALL our remaining matches as every team will be wanting to knock us off.Player of the match was Hatchy for non stop running & up n back in defence & attack,Well done -Guy

Aug 14 U10A vs Terrigal , Result: 2 - 0 Win
Another fine Saturday morning with the boys looking forward to our other local derby in Terrigal. The game started with pace with both sides giving there all with a very even first half. The only thing separating the 2 teams was a fantastic build up from our left side defence through to our midfield who pushed the ball over to our right to Maty up front who placed the ball perfectly past their keeper 1-0. The 2nd half was pretty much the same with the ball going from one end to the other as both sides made it difficult for one another (especially Terrigals keeper)until again with great passing we fought hard as a team to brake down Terrigals defence for Damo to seal the game with another fine shot on goal 2-0.Well done again boys another well deserved win.Player of the week went to Tyson for a terrific defensive game as well as backing up his mid field.Well done -Guy

Aug 08 U10A vs Berkeley Vale , Result: 5 - 0 Win
Another catch up game against Berkely Vale so I talked to the boys before the game about how every team from now on will want to try to be the first team to knock us off so not to take any side easy. That seemed to be a great motivator as I think this was one of the most disciplined & determined games the boys played with full focus on defending, passing, first to the ball, playing wide, backing up in attack & of course finding the back of the net.A wonderful display of football from a great bunch of talented players the team work was first class by all of you.Goals went to Damo 2 Maty 2 & Hatchy 1. Player of the week went to Conor for his terrific defence & complete focus even if he made a mistake he was first to get back & make amends well done -A very happy coach Guy

Aug 07 U10A vs Avoca , Result: 6 - 1 Win
Local derby against Avoca is always a tight tussle but the boys dominated early and put the pressure on straight from the start.Chance after chance the boys hammered Avoca's goal but with lack of concentration we seemed to try too hard in front of goal and missed many opportunities to score. When the boys settled and slowed things down knocked the ball around to each other the goals started to come. The boys shared the goals around today with great goals going to B1,Maty,Damo,Sam,Tom & Noah.Lets keep pushing the ball wide boys and getting first to the ball.Terrific effort all boys.Player of the week went to B1 for an excellent passing game in the midfield & setting up 3 other goals as well as scoring 1 himself.Lets do it all again 2 moro boys -Guy

Jul 24 U10A vs East Gosford , Result: 3 - 0 Win
What a game to come home to after going AWOL for 3 weeks in sunny Bali the old arch enemy East Gosford .All the reports I got whilst away were how the boys were playing some tremendous football in the 2 games I missed. From the opening whistle the boys came out firing and all reports were spot on as we continued raid after raid on East Gosford passing from our ever strong defence of Sam,Ottie,Hatchy,Tyson n Conor through the mighty mid field of Noah,B2,Tom, n the sun tanned B1 up to those fiesty forwards in Matthew,Damo n Maty. They managed to hold us out for the 1st 15 mins but our guys started to really put the screws in and really dominated the last 10 with Maty pouncing onto a deflected shot by Matthew to take 1-0 lead half time.Daniel in goal had little to do
2nd half saw the boys take total control passing the ball around beautifully which in the end led to a handball in the box where Sam stepped up n put it away with ease. Then with 5 to go the boys put on another polished passing move and saw Damo slot the 3rd one home.
Well done ALL boys again the football you are all playing is a credit to each and everyone of you.Player of the week went to Sam for his tireless defence and passing in attack well done mate.Thank you to Daniel from the 10/b's for subbing as we thought we might be 2 players down and also a BIG BIG thank you to Pete for taking the boys for training n games whilst I was away -Guy

Jul 17 U10A vs Killarney Vale , Result: 4 - 0 Win
Well played boys! Killarney Vale have improved a lot from earlier in the season and so have we. A big thanks to both Daniel & Peter from the "B"s for backing up and having good games.
Our Strikers, Mid Field and Defence all worked hard as a team today, as we all marked up, ran into space and passed the ball well. Although we had a few players in different positions to usual, they played very well & those around them lifted their game to help them out. The result of our team effort was Damo passing two players to slot the ball past the keeper. Then Maty made enough space 25yards out to boot a powerful shot in just under the crossbar. In the second half Tom let everyone know he was back from holidays with two great goals, one of them off a through ball from Matthew, our currently injured keeper!
Man of the Match went to Ottie today for his strength in defence and being calm under pressure, at one stage shielding the ball from three Killarney Vale players as he moved it away from the penalty area to the side line!
Guy will be stoked if we can keep up this standard of soccer for the season.

Jul 03 U10A vs Kanwal , Result: 1 - 0 Win
Guy would be proud of today's effort. A great game played by both teams. After reading Guy's match report from the last game it was obvious that Kanwal had improved a lot.
Heavy defence and some big tackles from both teams, Noah, Maty & Tyson put in great efforts. Kincumber had the best attack in the first half with our forwards missing some close chances. Then Damo beat two defenders and ran through a space, made good after a good run from Maty, and drove the ball past the Kanwal keeper... Great Goal! The whole team continued to try and find a man with the ball, but the strong Kanwal defence made this difficult. Good strong defence by out backs and a save by Matthew kept Kanwal scoreless. B2 & Hatchy worked hard running all game.
Second half and a sideline full of nervous parents watched on! Kanwal came out strong again & continued to make the passing moves the boys play difficult to keep going. In two different passing moves the boys moved the ball from one side of the field to the other then one end of the field to the other, with no luck in front of the goal, but it was great football to watch. We lost our "team shape" a bit in the second half as Kanwal came home strongly, but some great defence again and some fantastic saves from Matthew kept the Kanwal forwards scoreless. It was difficult replacing two strong centre midfielders, as B1 & Tom were away on holidays. Thank you to Daniel & Peter from the 10B's for helping us out and playing well in a tough game.
Things for us to practice at home & training:
1. Calling & talking to each other on the field. When we do, our passing game really improves.
2. Heading the ball is an important skill & one we can all improve on. This will help us defend & attack on corners.
3. Moving into space. After we have passed the ball we must keep thinking & moving.
Man of the Match went to Connor for his defending, & staying calm & strong when he got the ball under pressure.
See you at training boys. Pete.

Jun 20 U10A vs East Gosford , Result: 3 - 1 Win
1st catch up game & against the old sparring partners of East Gosford.Told the boys that they we be more gee'd up for this game as they had their full compliment of players.I wasn't wrong & the match started at a furious pace from one end to the other.Within the first 10 mins the boys played some beautiful football to jump to a 1-0 nil lead thanks to a great shot from Damo.More good football from both sides in attack & defence up & down the field. One more attack on the tight defence just before half time saw Maty have a strike from an acute angle to put us 2-0 up at the break.2nd half started the same as the 1st with East Gosford stepping it up a couple of notches putting pressure on our guys winning 3-4 corners one after another. Our defence desperately trying to clear them away. East Gosford got a touch on one corner which was curling away from Matthew just unable to get his fingers to it.2-1 & East Gosford through everything at us as their confidence grew & they felt an equaliser was on its way.10 mins from time we were given a direct free kick outside the box with Sam stepping up cool as a cucumber to drill it top right corner untouched.3-1 & this really took the wind out of there sails & all the boys played well for the last 10 mins.Player of the week went to B2 for his great positional play & defence Well done ALL boys, back on top of the table-Guy

Jun 19 U10A vs Terrigal , Result: 2 - 0 Win
Another early start for the boys but at least we are playing. We started off slow again with the first half pretty even but only for our misdirected passing & not much moving off the ball being our only problem for all the boys were trying so hard to break the strong defence of Terrigal. After the break with some words of wisdom to get movement off the ball the boys lifted their game by 30% to find cracks appearring in the Terrigal defence.Maty & Damo both looking for each other up front combined together well for the 2 great goals after teriffic lead up from our backs Ottie,Sam,Hatchy & Conor through the midfield of B2,Tyson,B1,Tom & Noah with Matthew in goals as strong as ever with a clean sheet again.Player of the week went to Damo for working hard off the ball which payed dividends. well done all boys-Guy

Jun 13 U10A vs Gala Day @ Killarney Vale , Result: 7 - 1 Win
Today we went to Killarney Vale for their annual U/10s gala day where we played 5 x 20min games.A chilly Sunday morning & our 1st game 8.25 am was against our old foe East Gosford. An even game by both sides with the result being 0-0,2nd game against Umina with the boys having a much better game winning 2-0,3rd game against Killarney B where the boys dominated scoring a 3-0 win,4th game against Killarney A with a much tougher game score 1-1,5th & final game against Kanwal with another tough game the boys winning 1-0 thanks to a penalty in the first half.
So with 3 wins & 2 draws ,7 goals for & 1 against the boys took out the '10/As section of Killarney Gala Day.Well done boys you did your club proud not only for winning but also for your wonderfull sportsmanship once again.
I would like to thank Toby,Daniel & Peter from the 10 Bs for helping us out for the day I hope you all enjoyed the day & also thank you to Tanya for your organisation as well as all the parents for your support on the day- Guy

Jun 12 U10A vs Avoca , Result: 3 - 0 Win
Hooray, hooray the rains have gone we are gonna get a game today. Well after a month of not playing & only a couple of sessions at the indoor the boys were all excited to get out & have a run against Avoca to start our comp proper. The boys got a bit of a shock cause Avoca were just as keen to.The football was not that pretty which was expected after such long time without playing.0-0 at half time so I told the boys just slow it down a bit & just try to make our passes stick. The boys settled a bit better, passes were finding there man & our defence was solid so as the game progressed we found some of our old rhythm giving us 3 good goals in the 2nd half to Maty,Damo & Tom. Well done All boys.Todays player of the week goes to Sam for his solid defence & non stop running onya Sam,Hopefully we will be able to train back at Frost this week -Guy

May 16 U10A vs Ourimbah , Result: 2 - 1 Win
Last of our games before re-grading & the boys are backing up after a fair hit out at Kanwal yesterday but this is the same for all the 10's.Ourimbah is our opposition & they always give us a hard game. The pace at the start was pretty fast from both sides with the ball being moved from one end of the field to the other.Ourimbah found some room down our flank getting the ball across our goal where the ball took a deflection & bounced through Matthews hands down 0-1. We attacked there goal time & time again but our last touches were not finding there target, but after some great passing down the left side we finally got one in scored by Noah game on 1-1 half time.At the break I reminded the boys that this was Dylans last game before he & his family fly out to the US so lets dig deep for him & send him off a winner.Well to his credit Dylan wanted to send himself off a winner as the game progress he chased & tackled every ball he could I dont think anyone got passed him down our left side. The rest of the boys all tried hard to press for that winner & it eventually came after a great run from Tom beating 3 players sending the ball through & Damo chased it down to put it into the goal 2-1.Well done all boys.Player of the week did go to Dylan not because he is leaving but he did not stop trying all game.I'd like to take this time to wish Matt,Julie & Dylan Luke & Riley all the best for there venture to the USA, We will miss you, best wishes from all of your friends from THE MIGHTY ROOS 10/a's

May 15 U10A vs Kanwal , Result: 2 - 0 Win
Another long trek up the freeway to do battle with Kanwal & a battle it was.Again we were slow out of the gates letting our opposition dictate things but as the game progressed we started to put a few things together to put pressure on Kanwal. They attacked us with some nice play but our ever improving goalie Matthew saved us a couple of times. The boys played some nice football to go to the break 1-0 after a nice strike from Maty.In the 2nd half we played well in patches thus resulting in another great goal from Maty but we had a few close calls after some lapses of concentration-boys we must focus for the full 50 mins.Anyway we got the win today & our player of the week went to Maty for his 2 strikes on goal, well done mate-Guy

May 08 U10A vs Berkeley Vale , Result: 6 - 2 Win
Up against Berkeley Vale today with our last meeting 2yrs ago in a u/8s gala day & from memory were a very good side so we had to be on our guard. My memory was correct as Berkeley started the better as our guys must of still had some sleepy dust in their eyes from the early 8.00am kick off.The 1st 10-15 min we were beaten to the ball & gave away possesion so easily that they turned all that winning of the ball into an early goal down 0-1.Gradually the sleepy dust was wiped from each boys eyes & we were winning more 50/50 balls & creating more chances for ourselves & getting back into the game with magic goals from Noah,Maty & Damo 3-1 half time.2nd half the passes started to stick & the boys confidence rose therefore being more dominant in attack than the 1st half. The opportunities were more frequent but we must take these chances as alot of our shots were straight at their keeper making his job easier.Again the boys rallied together with Maty ,Damo & Tyson scoring some good goals. To Berkeley's credit they kept at us scoring another goal 6-2 roos.Well done all boys again showing that fighting spirit from 1 goal down.Player of the week was Noah for his non stop effort all game & a great goal.A special mention to Matthew in goals for some great keeping well played today ALL boys-Guy

May 01 U10A vs Terrigal , Result: 3 - 0 Win
Todays opponent are also unbeaten after 3 rounds so the coach told the boys what was needed by them today & EVERY boy stepped up to the plate & delivered a wonderfull exhibition of football. We started the match with solid defence which in turn created many attacking moves from 1 side of the park to the other with finally Noah scoring from close range 1-0.As the boys continued their passing game Terrigal players got a bit frustrated & a few late tackles were happening all around the park. This setting up our 2nd goal with a perfect strike from Maty outside there box straight into the back of the net 2-0
The 2nd half was pretty much the same as the 1st with ALL boys passing the ball around fantastically, again frustrating & annoying our opposition resulting with quite alot of blatent late & unnecessary tackles off the ball but to our boys credit & mighty roo sportsmanship they fought on relentlessly. The goal of the match came from some great team work down our right hand side with precise passing from Hatchy to B1 back to Sam who gave it to Tyson in the box,to the coaches dismay & pulling out of whats left of his hair Tyson turned the ball away from the goal facing the side line took his player with him then danced n dodged back the other way towards the goal crosses it perfectly for B2 to volley it into Terrigals net 3-0 the roos(what does the coach know anyway)A GREAT effort to all boys today the standard of football is a pleasure to watch.Player of the week went to Tom for his tireless effort & after copping numerous tackles off the ball then getting up & back into position right away-Guy

Apr 24 U10A vs Avoca , Result: 11 - 0 Win
Todays game is the local derby against Avoca. The boys were really pumped & jumping out of their skin to start. As the boys ran out on the field I realised that Avoca were minus 1 player only having 10 due to the long weekend.Unbeknown to our boys they got into the game at a furious pace knocking the ball to each other with precision.Eventually we went forward with our passing game resulting in some teriffic strikes with goals to Tom-1,B1-1,Tyson & Maty-2 each.Approaching the break the kids could not believe the score line.At the interval I let the boys know why there was so much space out there so we swapped our forwards an mid field with the backs to give everyone a change of positions. The boys kept the passing going even though every boy was out of there position,we even brought Matthew out of goals for a run, thanks to Maty for going in goals. We evened it up with 10-15 mins to go by taking 1 of our players off. More goals came in that 2nd half Sam-3,Tyson-1 & an own goal.Credit goes to ALL the Avoca boys who didnt stop trying the whole game they can hold their heads up high. Our player of the week goes to Tyson for his 1st hat trick ever, well done buddy. Lets be ready for our next game against Terrigal -Guy

Apr 17 U10A vs East Gosford , Result: 4 - 0 Win
Todays game is normally billed as our game of the year as it is our first match this year against our old rivals East Gosford.Usually only the one goal difference in it ,but I believe our opposition were down a few regular players therefore resulting in a high scoring 4-0 win to the roos. The scoreline didn't reflect the type of game it was with both sides playing some nice football in attack & defence resulting in a magic goal to Tom 1-0 halftime. Our guys took there chances well when we attacked with another goal to Tom(pen) and one each to Damo & Tyson(1st goal ever for Tyson)Our defence held strong today with a man of the match performance from Ottie well done mate.A great TEAM effort from all the boys today keep up the passing game fellas as we are improving week after week-Guy

Apr 10 U10A vs Killarney Vale , Result: 3 - 2 Win
Wow welcome to the big field boys what a way to start 2010 season .The extra space suited both teams as the ball was passed around like seasoned professionals. All our boys knocked the ball around and attacked Killarneys goal for 10-15 mins with Maty hitting the post and crossbar on several raids.Killarney started to find their rythym after holding us out and on their 1st attack stunned us with a goal just prior to the break 1-0 Kil.The 2nd half started as fast & furious as the 1st with B2 slotting home a great goal 1-1.Both sides threw everything at each other Kil 2-1.We stepped it up another notch with Matthew,Ottie,Sam,Conor,Hatchy,B2,Tom,B1,Noah,Dylan,Maty & Tyson giving their all with it paying off with a good strike from Tom 2-2 5min to go & the boys found another gear they didn't know they had (I did)& pushed Killarney all the way to see B2 put away his 2nd for the day 3-2 mighty Roos.Congratulations to all the boys Player of the week went to Hatchy who didn't stop running all game well done mate.A big welcome to our new boys Matthew,Conor & Damien and their families & also to Dylan n family for the next 6 weeks or so.A big thank you to Tania for taking on the managers role, looking forward to a great season boys keep up that magic roos spirit-- Guy
