| Aug 28 U14C vs Umina , Result: 2 - 0 Win Great day for the last competition game of the year however the wind still reminded us it is winter. Top of the ladder clash for the league champions tital should be a hard clash, but for some reason neither team seemed to be with it today. As the game progressed we started to pick up and play a bit harder and with heart. Our backs Luke, Eamonn, Matt and Rhys worked hard and hustled the ball from Umina’s forwards not letting the get through. Attempts from Caleb, Josh, Eamonn and Lachlan went a bit wild sometimes. Our first goal came from a Umina throw in. Jack intercepted the ball passed it to Marcus who cleared it back up the field and Caleb ran onto the ball dribbling it up the field drawing the goalie out of his box and Caleb nicely angled the ball into the bottom corner of the net. The half time whistle blew a little early due to Brady stopping an attack by using his head (headed the ball from a high kick but didn’t brace his body correctly then staggered around like a he had just had a big night on the town). Half time 1-0 Back on the park our attacking fired up. From a Umina goal kick Josh got to the ball first and fired it back but just a little wide, then another goal kick and Jack took a lightening shot only to hit the cross bar. On the way up on another attack Marcus was collected and we were awarded a free kick just outside the 18 yard box. Caleb stepped up and took a sweet shot skimming the ball just under the cross bar and into the net. This half seemed to go very quickly and when the whistle blew we became the undefeated, Under 14C – LEAGUE CHAMPIONS!!! Well done team. | Aug 21 U14C vs Berkley Vale , Result: 8 - 3 Win As if we could forget this is a winter sport, the wind was definitely coming off the snow today! Berkley Vale took us by surprise and attack with force catching us floating in the wind, not concentrating on the game. Todays game was about passing, calling and playing as a team, being there to back up and support. Half time 5-1 Second half seen a shuffle in players as Brady put his hand up to have a go as a forward to try and get the elusive goal for OUR team this week. The team directed Brady as passes and his shots went wide and hitting the goal posts. Our defence still held strong as Matt and Rhys passed the ball to Georgah, she sent a great ball up to Caleb and he ran down directing Brady to receive a great pass and Brady finally sent the ball into the net. Matt, Rhys, Josh, Marcus, Jack, Lachlan and James kept the midfield and back line strong but Berkley Vale attack managed to give James a challenge. They ran up James pounced onto the ball and somehow the ball popped out of his clutches and just over the line. Full time 8-3 Coaches player – Marcus and Lachlan. |
| Aug 14 U14C vs Budgiewoi , Result: 5 - 1 Win What a top day for football! Right from kick off we came out strong as did Budgie. We found ourselves in a scramble as Budgie attacked from the side but lucky James’ safe hands stopped their attempt. James kick a long ball which fell at Caleb’s feet, Caleb sent a top pass over to Marcus and which he dribbled past defenders and placed the ball nicely into the net. Our next goal came from a great throw in to Matt and with top control passed the ball to Georgah, she pulled in the defender and threaded a nice pass to Caleb who ran the ball up to the goals and into the net. Attacking again and Marcus took a cracking shot at goals from outside the 18 yard box and nailed it into the net. As Budgie took a corner James again stopped their attack and sent the ball flying down the field to an eager Eamonn determined to get on the score board, he nicely chipped the ball over the goalie head and into the net. Just like every week if it wasn’t for our strong mids and back line the ball wouldn’t get up the front. Half time 4-0 Back on the field and a change in the line up seen the backs to the front and the forwards to the back. James also came out to the forwards and Brady again stepped into the goalie roll. Attempts at goal from Georgah, Harry, Josh, Rhys and James were all stopped by the Budgie goalie. Jack sent in an amazing corner into the middle of the box where a ball scramble found Caleb kicking a backwards ball over to Eamonn. Eamonn then seen Caleb run around him and passed it back to Caleb and with a great angled shot slid the ball into the net. As the game was coming to an end Budgie took a shot, Brady tried his best to stop the ball had a little fumble and the ball slipped out of his hands and into the net – self devastation followed!!! | Aug 07 U14C vs Toukley , Result: 4 - 0 Win A bit of a chilly day, especially when you are just sitting on the sideline. Both teams were eager to play today and came out hard and fast. Not long after kick off, from a throw in Georgah passed the ball to Caleb and with precision he slid the ball between the goalie and the side post and into the net. Toukley picked up pace but James and our strong back line stopped all attacks. Endless shots from Georgia, Marcus, Mini and Jack went high and wide, Toukley’s goalie had his work cut out for him. Half time 1-0 Back on the field and a re-arrangement in positions found James on the front line and Brady took up guard on goals. James seen the goals from a different angle and tried hard to get the rush of scoring a goal rather than defending the net. Marcus passed the ball to James, he took the shot but the Toukley goalie stopped it and fumbled, Mini was backing up and swept it into the net. On attack again and Mini took a terrific corner placing it perfectly for Jack to send the ball into the net. Great pressure and top passing from the whole team saw most of the play in Toukley’s half. Caleb took a shot from out wide, chipped it high and lobbed the ball right into the top corner of the net, great shot. Toukley made a run for the goals just before full time but put it out over the back line. Brady took the kick from goals and the full time whistle blew, nice work!!! | Jul 17 U14C vs Gosford , Result: 2 - 1 Win Not long into the game Lachie challenged the ball from Gosford and went up to head the ball but came off second best coming off with a bleeding nose. With all the excitement i forgot to watch what was happening and Caleb potted the ball into the net!!!! Back on track - Caleb took a throw in to Marcus and he tapped it into the goal. Josh had a great shot from out wide and high but that crossbar kept it out. Eamon not wanting to be left out also sent in a bullet but his went straight to the goalie. Half time 2-0 Back on the field and we didn't really look like we wanted to be there. Gosford seen the opportunity to get back into the game and found the back of the net. | Jun 19 U14C vs Umina , Result: 1 - 0 Win Todays game was a strong top of the ladder clash. Both teams came out strong and played hard and fair. Not playing for three weeks didn't seem to hurt our team, Jack took great corners and Mini ran those little legs off all game. Matt, Eamon, Rhys, Brady and Luke held our defence strong. James felt a bit left out only touching the ball a few times. Josh, Lachie, Georgah and Jack held the middle and pushed the ball through to Marcus and Caleb for countless attempts at goal. From a free kick Caleb landed the ball nicely into the top right hand corner of the net, we had the lead. Half time 1-0 Both teams came back to the second half a bit slow (maybe the rain had softened there fitness!). Umina had dropped down to 10 men but they still held us out from the goals. Support from the sideline got a bit louder when Dennis (dad) turned up after a big win at his Over 35's game - he was "pumped"! The full time whistle blew, great game team. | May 15 U14C vs Killarney - 1 , Result: 1 - 1 Draw A fast and exciting game was in front of us today. Not quiet knowing what was to come we took it a bit slow and Killarney took advantage of the fact, with 2 early crosses our scrambling defence kept the attempts out and it kept James very busy. Lachlan “locks” found the ball quite a bit but just couldn’t get past Killarney’s defence. Josh had a crack at goals but just skimmed over the cross bar. As much as our defence held strong, Killarney managed to pop one passed us just before half time. Half time 0-1 With the pressure now on we came back fired up. A great corner from Jack had the crowd gasping as Josh tapped the ball over to Caleb but unfortunately someone move the goal mouth!! Still on the attack Mini took a throw in from the sideline, Killarney’s keeper came out to be greeted by the force of Caleb who headed the ball to Marcus who chipped it into the net. Back to an equal score and eager to climb ahead on the scoreboard Killarney couldn’t break through our strong defence – Luke, Eamon, Harry, Matt and Brady kept the ball away from James and up to the mids and forwards who had several more attempts but unfortunately couldn’t break the tie. | May 08 U14C vs Kanwal , Result: 2 - 1 Win WOW – what a hard game! Our first real afternoon game and the team had started to slip into weekend mode early. Kanwal attacked strong while we stood there watching and put the first point on the scoreboard for the game. That woke us up and our game picked up fast. James still had is work cut out for him diving and jumping around the goals stopping Kanwal’s attack. Seeing an opportunity Caleb attacked and found the back of the net with delight bring the game back equal. Brady, Georgia, Mini, Lachlan and Josh went in and up against some hard tackles. Harry, Josh, Marcus, Lachlan and Caleb had shots flying over, beside and into the goalie hands. Half time 1-1 We show amazing team work in the second half, passing, talking and praise for team mates on the field and from the sideline. Kanwal attacked continually wanting a win but Luke, Matt, Eamon, Rhys, Georgia and Brady held strong. From an attack on our goals Georgia sent the ball through the middle of the park down to Caleb, he passed it back to Jack then Jack sent it through to Caleb, he then crossed it to Mini and Mini lobbed it back over to Caleb and he angled it beautifully into the net. | May 01 U14C vs Gosford , Result: 3 - 0 Win After overnight drizzle we were expecting a few more puddles on Frost this morning! Instead we were pleasantly surprised. Our team is playing brilliantly, great passing, lots of talking and team work. Many attempts went astray in the first half from Marcus, Mini, Josh and Brady until a great ball crossed from the side found Caleb waiting in front of an open goal and shot it straight in. Our defence stopped every attack Gosford tried Matt held them out along with Eamon, Rhys, Luke so James didn’t see the ball much throughout the game. Our next goal came with a top run from Mini running up the sideline and passing it over to Josh, he then crossed it to Caleb and he treaded it into the net passed the Gosford goalie. Half time 2-0 Back on the paddock after half time and Gosford tried to penetrate our defence again with no avail. Lachlan gave the Gosford goalie a far bit of training taking shot after shot to try and open his score card for the season, better luck next week! Georgia chipped a nice ball over to Mini, he crossed it over to Josh and Josh then sent it to Jack who angled an unreal shot into the opposite corner of the net. | Apr 17 U14C vs Killarney - 2 , Result: 5 - 2 Win Another great day for football. Today’s game took us a bit by surprise! The boys were a bit slow off the mark this morning and waited until the second half to show there form. Our first half attempts went flying high and wide on both sides of the net and it took a shake up from Killarney who found the net first to wake them up. Still not content with one Killarney shook us again and put us 2 down. Not happy the boys finally warmed up and set up great passes from Caleb, Josh, Marcus and then Mini found the net. Half time 1-2 down. An inspirational jolt from Coach Karl and the boys were back, rarely letting the ball into Killarneys half. From a goal kick the ball found Josh in the mid field, he took an amazing shoot which flew over the goalies head and into the net (finally, the goal that has eluded him for years!! Mum and Nanna were ecstatic). Brady took a goal kick which landed right at Marcus’s feet, he took the ball all the way, Killarney tried to stop him but he kept going and dribbled it passed the goalie and into the net. We kept attacking and again the ball found Josh waiting in the mid field he hammered the ball again sending it into the net like a rocket. Lachlan threaded a top pass to Mini and he crossed it to Caleb who smacked it into the back of the net. What a comeback, top game boys. Full time, 5-2 Coaches player - Josh |
| Apr 10 U14C vs Seu , Result: 5 - 1 Win Meet the team.... Our goalie – James springs around like he is made of rubber. Our always strong defence - Matt (welcome to the team), Brady, Luke & Rhys. Our mid-field who never give up with Matt (Mini), Josh (Captain), Lachlan & Eamon (holidaying). Our goal hungry forwards – Jack (welcome back), Caleb & Marcus. First game of the season and what a game! It was a bit of a warm day to be running around at lunch time but the boys held strong and worked hard. The attempts at goal went wide and high until our first goal flew into the net when Mini crossed a great ball over to the 6 yard box, Caleb came flying in and finished it off. Half time 1-0 Southern regrouped at half time and in the first 5 mins attacked with a vengeance and popped the ball into the net. Not letting the away team have glory Marcus took the ball for a run to goals, an intercept from SEU found Mini and he angled a great goal into the net. From the corner Mini passed the ball to Josh, the ball rebounded off SEU and headed for Caleb who nailed it passed the corner post. A few attempts from Southern in the second half were blocked by the backs each time. They sent the ball back to the forwards with amazing passed. Mini took a corner and Marcus juggled it from his shoulder then chipped it over the goalies head. All game Jack was hungry for a goal and he dribbled the ball to the box took the shot and in it went.
