U14D Match Reports |
Sep 04 U14D vs Woongarrah , Result: 1 - 3 Loss An extremely disappointing result for the team in this very important match. The team had played very well all game and came off at half time locked in at nil all. They then fought back from 1 goal down to equalise with a 1 all draw at full time. Everyone had played their positions well & had tried hard all game. Harrys splendid solo goal from a corner kick had everything to do with skill & very little to do with the wind as claimed by some. A really excellent effort Harry - Beckham couldn't have produced anything finer. You even outdid him in the goal celebration department. Kincumbers defenders, Andrew, Ben, Nicholas & Toby had done the team proud all game & Matthew had done a great job as Keeper. Mitchell did a great job on his wing despite finding himself being held back from going forward as often as he would have liked. In the 1st half particularly Nicholas did an outstanding job of clearing the ball forward to Sian who did wonderfully well on that wing in both attack & defense. She in turn combined with Sophie & the girls both consistently promoted the ball for the team all game. Congratulations to both girls for not being so intimidated this match by Woongarrahs huge pack. Sian was particularly unlucky not to have a goal to her credit in an inspired move from the kick-off that almost had a goal in the opening seconds of the 2nd half. Bad luck Sian, Matt said please don't be too upset with the hand ball penalty. The ball would have taken your head off. Tyler & Edward were the teams midfielders & Edward in particular was matched up against Woongarrahs tallest players all game & didn't let it faze him. He has great ball skills and was tricky all match, pouncing on plenty of loose balls, well done Edward on a fine game. Lucas put in a determined effort this match & was unlucky not to score the winning goal for the team in the minutes just before full time. With the teams locked at 1-1 at full time, the match went into Extra Time. It was the teams hardworking & to that point, really effective defensive line-up that got changed around before resuming the match. These guys had done beautifully all game to prevent Woongarrah dominating the play. Andrew who had been rock solid as centre back was moved to the forwards. Nicholas who had had such a great game on the right was moved to the unfamiliar role of sweeper. Toby had been great as sweeper was now moved into Andrews all important position. Ben kept his position as left defender & as always kept playing hard all game. The reshuffle lacked the cohesion of the original formation & Andrew was removed from the thick of things into a position that saw him rarely touch the ball in extra time. Woongarrah relished the changes & took the opportunity to dominate the play that had been denied them until then. Kincumber was unable to answer the 2 goals scored by Woongarrah in Extra Time. A disappointing end to an otherwise strong game from all players in the team. The team was without 2 very important personnel for todays game. Liam was struck down by a stomach bug & Libby had Swimming commitments. You were both missed by your team mates today & we look forward to your return in next Saturdays do or die Finals match at Gwandalan. Brad awarded the Player of the Match reward to Mitchell. Congratulations Mitchell. I stopped in at Frost Reserve to observe some of the Minor Semi Finals match - Woy Woy v's East Gosford. East Gosford won this match in extra time & in disappointing circumstances. It was necessary for additional officials to attend the sidelines to monitor East Gosford Supporter sledging. I am reliably informed that they heckled the Woy Woy Keeper into tears. Lets hope that they produce a more civil approach for the match next weekend at Gwandalan.
Aug 28 U14D vs Umina , Result: 3 - 1 Win Today saw the team play the final round of Soccer for the stop, start 2010 Season. The win secured 1st place & the team are Minor Premiers of the D Division. Kincumber had 45 points, Woongarrah had 42 points, Woy Woy & East Gosford had 39 points each, with Woy Woy edging East Gosford into 4th place by having the higher goal average. Congratulations to the team on their achievement. Todays game saw the team verse 8th placed Umina, and this was a must win game if the team was to hold on to the the Minor Premiers title. The team played well enough today to secure victory & has improved on its performance over the last few matches. Goal scorers in the match were Sian & Harry. Sian scored 2 goals, the 1st of which came in the opening moments of the game. Well done Sian on a great game all match. Harrys goal saw him return to the goal scorers list, & increase his tally to 32 goals this season. Harry had a fairly subdued match today but then again he was being marked by 2 defenders all match. Sian & Libby were todays Pizza Voucher recipients & were as always very deserving of the award. Both girls played beautifully all match. Sian was very active on the wing promoting the ball & narrowly missing her 1st hat trick with the team, & Libby again had a strong game in the backs pulling off yet another goal saving move in the 2nd half. Other strong games were had by Edward, Andrew, Ben, Mitchell & Liam. Fingers crossed that Liams knee continues to improve. Matthew had another solid game for the team in the keepers position. Brad announced that the player of the match will no longer be the captain the following week. He has made Toby the team captain for the coming final series. The team is playing in the Major Semi Final next Saturday, 4/9/10. This match will be played at James Browne Oval, Field 1, Alpha Rd, Woy Woy (behind the Peninsular Leisure Centre). Kick-off is at 1.45pm & the team will verse Woongarrah who finished with a 1-1 draw against last place Kanwal today. All players need to be at the field by 12.30pm. TEAM TRAINING: The team will train on Tuesday & Thursday afternoons from 5 to 6pm at Frost Reserve for the next few weeks. Brad would like as many players as possible to attend both team training sessions. Please remember to bring a drink & wear shin pads. In the FINAL SERIES there are a few rules that parents & players need to be aware of. * Firstly all players MUST BE at the grounds approximately 90 minutes before Kick-off. This is necessary as all players must be presented in their playing strip with their registration card to officials at least 1 hour prior to kickoff. Early arrival means a far less stressful preparation & presentation for team members, & is good practice if the team is lucky enough to progress through the final series. * Secondly, the team has to supply 2 crowd control officials at each match. These team officials have to wear the fluorescent safety vests & must also be presented to officials with the team. The team Coach & Manager cannot be Team Crowd Control officials. Lastly but not leastly, the team had canteen duty today from 2 to 4pm. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the 3 parents who volunteered to do this duty for the team today. Thanks go to Liams' mum Lorraine, Nicholas' dad Ray & Tobys' dad John. On a day when I was unable to help, I really appreciate your efforts, thankyou.
Aug 21 U14D vs Woongarrah , Result: 1 - 1 Draw The team made the trip to Kanwal to play Woongarrah for the 1st time this season. Kincumbers players were made to feel vertically challenged when they were matched up with the enormous Woongarrah pack. Unfortunately for our smaller players it looks like the teams with large players in their packs will be their opposition in the final series - so some strategies and play making that the team can adopt to combat this will need to be formulated in the coming weeks. Are growth hormones still illegal?? The team welcomed the return of Libby & Lucas to todays match. Sian kindly made the long journey & was again a valued team member. The teams sick & injured from last weekend lined up again for todays game - Matt was recovered from the flu & Liam got to give his injured knee a real workout as a forward in todays game. Hope you pulled up okay Liam. There was improvement in the the team performance this week. Andrew did a great job this match of leading from the back. His determined efforts to get to the ball & promote the ball by either running with it &/or passing the ball through were spot on. Well done Andrew you tried non stop all match. Ben had another never say die effort in defence, & this week his efforts were backed up by Libby - the Jones' combination effectively chased down & cleared balls to each other & for each other all match. Lovely to see a brother & sister combination that compliments each other so well. The team scored the first goal this match care of a nice goal from Tyler. However the team weren't able to convert any of the other scoring opportunities created in the 1st half. Matt was having a really solid game as keeper denying all of Woongarrahs goal scoring plays, until a team mate gifted Woongarrah with a penalty goal kick. Another clumsily executed tackle again resulted in another penalty goal shot. Luckily Toby didn't get a yellow card this time, unfortunately for Kincumber the goal kick was successful & the score was tied. With Harry then moved to the back row scoring opportunities in the 2nd half became few & far between. The ball was getting down to the Woongarrah goal box but was breaking down before a goal shot was taken. Liam & Nicholas had strong games in defence in the 1st half & found themselves moved into the attack in the 2nd half where they continued to try hard. Edward was up against a player twice his size & weight, he kept getting bowled over but to his credit he just kept picking himself up & trying again. Well done Edward. Mitchell had another fine game on the wing & was combining very nicely with Andrew & Harry especially in the 1st half. Harry & Lucas were unable to add to their goal statistics this game - a first for Harry all season. All in all the team improved on their performance from last weekend & were able to come away with a draw this game. The team remains in 1st place on the ladder by 1 point, as East Gosford today lost 2 nil to Ourimbah D1. Brad awarded player of the Match to the hardworking Liam who battled on all match despite his knee injury. Brave effort Liam
Aug 14 U14D vs East Gosford , Result: 2 - 4 Loss The team lost its 1st match of the season today after producing the same form that almost cost them the game against Kanwal. After again having no training this week, Kincumber just didn't play well as a team. There appeared to be little communication between players & the teams play just lacked a sense of direction or purpose. Positional play was poor, the teams shape was lost & there was just too much ball watching. This was really surprising from a team that is usually pretty focused & "goal" orientated. The larger East Gosford side was allowed to dictate the play all match. Kincumber often failed to contest the ball & showed little interest in being 1st to the ball. Instead of moving themselves & the ball wide & making the bigger team respond accordingly, Kincumber stood still & waited for the ball to come to them. With superior height & often weight advantages East Gosford simply intercepted &/or blocked Kincumbers ball play. With Harry being kept well contained, or being kept out wide, by East Gosfords defense, Sian stepped up to keep the attack moving. Team play did improve in the 2nd half when Sian & Sophie combined in attack. This pairing boosted the quality of the teams attacking play. Ball play & through passing made a marked improvement. Both girls consistently attacked & contested the ball for Kincumber all game. Well done ladies, beautifully played. Today the team was guilty of just giving the ball a kick then watching to see where it went. Players were waiting to see if the ball would come to them, instead of going to the ball. Matthew & Andrew had to work hard to clear the ball into a head wind the 1st half & were still either reaching or almost reaching halfway. In the 2nd half Matthews kicks were clearing half way & Andrews were reaching half way & yet Kincumber repeatedly just turned the ball back over to East Gosford. The defenders appeared to be on their own today as they received little support from their team mates. Often the balls cleared by the defense went to East Gosford as there just wasn't anyone in support. Harry though well contained, still managed to score Kincumbers 2 goals today. Well done Harry. Lucas was absent from todays match. A big well done goes to Liam who tried to soldier on with a crook knee & to Matt who had the flu all week but still tried hard for their team all match. Brad awarded Player of the Match to Andrew who worked hard in defense all match. The teams loss has brought them back to the field. Woongarrah is only 1 point behind & East Gosford is only 2 points behind. Brad is looking into some extra team training.
Aug 07 U14D vs Doyalson , Result: 11 - 2 Win The sun was shining, a cool breeze was blowing & the team was happy to be back on the field playing soccer, after last weekends washout & no training again this week. Lucas was away this match, so Libby & Sophie joined the guys today to give us a starting 11 & 1 reserve. As always, both Libby & Sophie played beautifully in any position asked of them. A wonderful game from both of you today ladies, thankyou. The team used this match to correct some of the mistakes made in their lack lustre performance 2 weeks ago against Kanwal. The match got away to a fairly intense start with both teams scoring 2 very good early goals. Kincumbers backs, Andrew, Ben, Liam & Nicholas regrouped, steadied their play & began giving better support to their Keeper, Matthew. As a result of this improved defense, Doyalsons goal scoring opportunities became fewer & a lot harder to come by. Well done guys!! With the defence back in control, the teams attacking game came to the fore & the match really opened up. Our wingers, midfielders & forwards were all moving to the ball, executing some lovely passing & were backing one another up. The team held its shape today, & played with more conviction. Importantly, Kincumber dictated the play today, not their opponents. A lesson well learned guys. At half time the team was leading 6-2 & had 3 goal scorers. Toby had 1, Sophie had 2 & Hat-trick Harry had 3. Brad reshuffled the team around with just about everyone receiving a change in position. Andrew, Liam & Nicholas relished their time in the attack, combining brilliantly with Edward to contribute some really committed & determined play. Nicholas excellent efforts all match were rewarded when he scored his 1st goal of the season & Andrew, Edward & Liam were extremely unlucky not to score a goal each as well. Mitchell continued his successful return from injury, having another strong game on the wing & later in defense. Harry duplicated his 3 goals from the first half again in the 2nd half & scored his 1st ever double hat-trick!! Congratulations Harry on yet another excellent game, you once again happily chased the ball all over the field & unselfishly promoted balls for your team mates in both attack & defense. Tyler was the teams final goal scorer today, bringing the teams total to 11 goals scored by 5 players. Matthew rarely saw the ball in the 2nd half & had to be satisfied with pouncing on a ball that had strayed near the goal box, & taking it for a run down the sideline to halfway. The teams 1st yellow card of the season was awarded to Toby for an unintentionally clumsy defensive move - thankfully not in the goal box. The team is to be congratulated on a much improved performance today. The improvements will need to continue as they face 2nd & 3rd place holders Woongarrah & East Gosford in their next 2 matches. Brad awarded the Player of the Match Reward to Toby for a strong game especially in the 2nd half. Liam celebrated his 14th Birthday today, I'm just sorry that he wasn't able to bag a goal on his birthday!! Thanks parents for your co-operation with the team photos today. See everyone at Training on Tuesday. Match next week is against East Gosford @ Hylton Moore Oval, East Gosford - not Woongarrah @ Kanwal as 1st reported.
Jul 31 U14D vs Ourimbah D1 , Result: 2 - 2 Draw Yet another washed out round for the team, with no soccer played.
Jul 24 U14D vs Kanwal , Result: 4 - 0 Win Todays match saw the team at the top of the ladder verse the team at the bottom of the ladder. One team, before this match had a goal difference of 20, the other had a goal difference of -26. Yet anyone watching the 1st half of todays game, would have been justified in thinking that the bottom of the ladder team was Kincumber. The teams play strongly resembled an U6 side, all bunched together in a scrum, with everyone just trying to kick the ball through the middle of the field. There was no team shape, very little positional play & team work appeared to have been unheard of. Kanwals big pack, was allowed to dictate the play, and sad to say, many Kincumber players stood back & watched them do it. Take note guys, as todays 1st half showed - when you just stand there & wait for the ball and/or the opposition to come to you, you are just so very easy to defend and attack against. It gave me no pleasure to have to write this about the team. I always try to write positive & encouraging things about a match & our players, but the team needed to hear the truth about their 1st half performance. I will now concentrate on a few of the positives from this game. Firstly, the team came away with a win, thanks to a much better 2nd half. Lucas today, scored 2 really excellent goals, bringing his season tally to 4. Toby & Harry joined Lucas on the scoreboard with another goal each. Well done to our goal scorers. Libby was with the team today & was an absolute godsend on the wing - running the ball, passing the ball & always backing up, she led the team into opening up the play, spreading the ball wide & following all plays through. Beautiful game Libby, thankyou. Ben showed that there's plenty of talent in the Jones family, when he was given the chance to move into the forwards. Although heavily outweighed, Ben made his opponent work hard for every ball, always getting involved, passing the ball through & even getting a goal shot off. A tough game Ben, but you did very well. Kanwal is a large pack, & are happy to use their size to intimidate smaller players, as Edward & Tyler found out today. As the team finally discovered, the only way to play a large pack is to play around them & make them move. If you stand still or bunch up then their superior size & weight are always to their advantage. When Kincumbers attack finally worked this out & started spreading the ball wide, the game opened up & the goals started coming. This then forced Kanwal to throw more players back in defence, & took pressure of our backs. When Kincumbers midfield seemingly disappeared, our backs took matters into their own hands. Nicholas, Toby & later Harry, held the line, whilst Andrew & Liam showed initiative & stepped forward to fill the void. Well done backs. Matthew played his keeper position strongly all match, stopping all Kanwals goal shots & constantly clearing the ball out to half way, giving his team mates the opportunity to go on the attack. At the end of the match, when things in defense had quietened right down, Matt unexpectedly got the opportunity to go up & contest 2 Kincumber corners. Thanks Nick for covering for him. Brad awarded the Player of the Match Reward to Mitchell for his hard work all game out on the left wing. Congratulations Mitchell, great to see you making such a strong come back. The team play Ourimbah D-1 at Frost Reserve, next weekend, weather & GCC permitting. See everyone at training on Tuesday afternoon.
Jul 17 U14D vs Gwandalan , Result: 3 - 0 Win A lovely sunny day saw the long awaited return of Mitchell to the team, after an 8 week absence with a broken knee. Welcome back Mitch!! The stop start season got underway again, after yet another weekend of no soccer & a fortnight of no training. Not the best preparation when the team is versing Gwandalan - a team that always turns up ready & willing to take the match to you. With conditions heavy underfoot, & Mitch just returning from injury, it was great to have Sophie & Libby join the guys - they gave the team valuable help as always & had strong games in both attack & defence. Thanks ladies. The team played well today, although match fitness has suffered with so little regular play & training. There were 3 goal scorers today. Lucas, returned to the scoreboard with his 2nd goal for the season, when he booted in a great goal to get the teams scoring underway. Harry soon joined Lucas on the scoreboard booting home the teams 2nd goal - it was Harrys 22nd goal for the team this season. Well done Harry, keep up the great work. Toby was the teams 3rd goalscorer, scoring his 3rd goal for the season, with a goal that showed that persistence pays. Toby was very unlucky not to have at least 1 more goal to his credit. Our defenders played strongly all match. Well done to Andrew, Ben, Nicholas, Liam, Toby, Libby & Sophie who did their jobs well & gave great support to Matthew, the teams goalie. Matt had another strong game in the goals, making some great saves & keeping Gwandalan to nil. Our midfielders & forwards were up against a determined defence, but still created lots of opportunities to attack the Gwandalan Goal. Edward, Tyler, Harry, Lucas, Mitchell, Sophie & Toby all looked to promote the ball all match, they displayed some great ball skills & really tried hard to back each other up. Well done to all the team, though I suspect that towards the end of the match everyones boots felt like they were made from concrete, the team put together another solid win. Brad awarded the Player of the Match Reward to Lucas - for a great effort all match which included the teams opening goal. Well done Lucas. As terrific as it was to see Mitchell back on the field, it was a huge relief to see him still in one piece at the end of the match. Had to resist the temptation to cover him in bubble-wrap!! A huge thankyou goes to Liam & Nicholas' dads - Tony & Ray who stepped up & performed the sideline referees duties for this game. Having the right number of officials certainly helps a game run smoothly & your assistance was appreciated. Thanks guys. Fingers crossed that Frost remains open & training will take place on Tuesday.
Jul 03 U14D vs Woy Woy , Result: 4 - 1 Win Welcome back to the 2010 stop, start soccer season. After another disappointing washout last weekend & no training this week, the team turned up eager to get onto the field. Disappointingly for Mitchell he was still unable to join his team mates for todays match. We thank Sophie, Sian & Hanna for joining the team again today & for once again playing so well. All the girls had excellent running games & were unlucky not to make it onto the scoreboard, especially Sian with her numerous attempts being denied. Better luck next time girls. Last time the team versed Woy Woy the result was a 5-5 draw. Congratulations this game must go to our defense Andrew, Ben, Liam, Nicholas & Toby who worked hard at shutting down Woy Woys attacking duo 9 & 10 & for marking their players all match. They backed each other up & consistently looked to disrupt any Woy Woy attack. Matthew had a strong game in goals, stopping all but 1 goal shot, positioning himself really well, taking control of the goal box & making Woy Woy rethink their goal shot strategy. Andrew & Matts clearing kicks were extremely effective and put Kincumber back on the attack every time. Edward continued to grow into his role in the midfield & was once again very impressive. Some old combinations & some new combinations are beginning to click & with a little more consistent match play will only continue to strengthen. With our defense working so well our midfielders & forwards received plenty of opportunities to shine. The Woy Woy Goalie was kept very busy all match & did extremely well to hold Kincumbers score to 4. Our Goal Scorer today was Hat-trick + 1, Harry who again did extremely well all match, always looking to get involved, puting up some really unselfish passes for his team mates & narrowly missing out on scoring a few more goals. An excellent match Harry, well done. Nicholas got to have a run upfront during the 2nd half & narrowly missed 2 excellent goal attempts. Lucas & Tylers attacking efforts this match were denied a goal as were Andrews middle of the park walloping great kicks. Well done team for getting out there & having a go, playing unselfish soccer & taking a shot if the opportunity presented itself. Brad awarded the Player of the Match reward to the very deserving Hat-trick + 1 Harry. Congratulations Harry. There is no game next Saturday & there is no team training this Tuesday (1st week of the holidays). Training will resume in the 2nd week - hope everyone enjoys the school holidays. The teams next match is on Saturday 17/6/10 (last weekend of the holidays) at Frost Res against Gwandalan.
Jun 26 U14D vs Ourimbah D-2 , Result: 2 - 2 Draw Sad to have to report that the team dipped out on a game this weekend because Ourimbah Park was closed. Some teams in our division did get to play a game but unfortunately or fortunately, (depends if they won or lost), the round will be declared a washout and all teams will each receive a 2-2 draw and 1 point each. Everyone say prayers to the deity of your choice for dry weather throughout the week & for a game next weekend.
Jun 19 U14D vs Umina , Result: 7 - 2 Win Welcome back everyone, after receiving an unscheduled 4 week break. Good to see the team finally back out on the field playing soccer again. Todays game was a nice match to come back too, with everyone trying to ease their way back into soccer & trying to remember how to play their positions after so long. Match fitness took a bit of a battering with maybe a bit too much Xbox & Playstation during the month of wet weather. Mitchell was still unable to join his team mates & has a further 2 weeks still to go. The team was joined this match by Sophie, Libby & Sian, who all played beautifully in both attack & defense today. The whole team tried hard today and special mentions go to: Our Goal Scorers: - Harry, who scored 5 of the teams 7 goals - almost a double hat trick, just missed by "that much"!!. Another excellent game again young Harry. Our other goal scorer for the team today was, Sophie, who put away 2 lovely goals. An outstanding effort both of you - brought back memories of last season. Our Midfielders did very well today. Edward was especially effective, always looking to be involved, putting together some terrific passing play, backing up his team mates & proving very difficult for the opposition to tackle. Well done Edward on a really fine game. Our attacking play today came from many sources and included strong running games from Toby, Libby, Lucas & Sian, who all made big inroads into the Umina Defense time & time again, as did Harry & Sophie. Our defenders today were anchored by the Teams Goalie - Matthew, who restricted Umina to one goal per half. Well done to Nicholas, who had the difficult job of marking Uminas fastest & best player. A really determined & gutsy effort today Nicholas. Ben, Andrew, Liam & Libby all scrambled hard, cleared the ball well & successfully contained most of Uminas attacking efforts. Player of the Match was awarded by Brad to Tyler for his passing & positional game in the midfield. Congratulations, Tyler. Congratulations team on a nice win today. Training is on again this Tuesday. We play Ourimbah 2 at Ourimbah next Saturday.
Jun 05 U14D vs Woongarrah , Result: 2 - 2 Draw Sorry Guys, yet another weekend of washouts & again no soccer played. Fingers crossed for improved weather conditions in the week ahead.
May 29 U14D vs East Gosford , Result: 2 - 2 Draw Disappointingly, another washout. Again CCS has awarded all teams a 2 all draw and 1 point each for the round.
May 22 U14D vs Doyalson , Result: 2 - 2 Draw Sorry to say the weather denied the team a trip to Doyalson. The whole round was declared a washout. All teams received a 2 all draw & 1 match point. Hopefully the weather improves & we can train on Tuesday for next weekends match.
May 15 U14D vs Ourimbah D-1 , Result: 2 - 1 Win Todays match saw the team come away with its' 3rd win for the season. Harry was the teams only goal scorer this week booting in a goal in each half. The team were joined by Sian & Hanna who made the trip to Ourimbah today & played extremely well. Hanna & Harry formed a formidable partnership in the 2nd half & were a pleasure to watch. Mitchell earned the hat-trick or was that the "purple heart" for the team, when a match ending knee injury, joined his broken fingers & the flu. A brave effort Mitchell, hope you are soon on the mend. Our other flu sufferers were Liam & Matthew who both soldiered on all match. Liam played strongly as the teams sweeper & Matthew did really well as keeper, stopping plenty of goal shots including a penalty goal shot save. Our defenders underpinned todays win - Ben, Nicholas, Toby & Mitchells efforts disrupted the Ourimbah attack & Andrews clearance kicks fed plenty of balls through for our attackers. Our attackers probed at the Ourimbah defense all match, always looking to apply pressure & searching for a goal scoring opportunity. Brad awarded Player of the Match to a very deserving Nicholas, who had a great game in defence today. He owned his opponent all match. Well done Nicholas. Hopefully everyone is fighting fit for training on Tuesday. Next weekends match is at Doyalson - time to break out the packed lunch & compass again.
May 08 U14D vs Kanwal , Result: 5 - 0 Win A pleasing result for the team notching up a solid win - the 2nd for the season. Thankyou to Libby Jones & Hanna Grierson from the W14Bs who joined the team and played beautifully. There were several goal scorers today - Harry & Toby with 2 goals each and Lucas with his 1st goal for the season. Well done guys!!! There were some nice shots & some very unselfish passing. The team produced many, many, many scoring opportunities but with heaps of near misses & some excellent work from the Kanwal goalie the score was restricted to just 5. Our defenders - Andrew, Ben, Liam, Libby, Matthew & Nicholas played strongly all match, working well together to close down any attacks. Our 2 goalies Matthew & Nicholas were rarely challenged. Mitchell & Hanna both had busy games, positioning themselves well, going to the ball, & always looking to be involved. Ben & Libby were an impressive combination on the left flank, executing some lovely clearances & throw-ins. Matthew was out of the goals for the 2nd half, & made the most of this opportunity by playing strongly on the right wing. It was a pretty impressive game although, with the defense operating so well & feeding so much ball forward, (great goal shot by the way, Andrew), our midfielders did tend at times to go AWOL - absent without leave. It appeared to be a strong case of "Forward Envy". However in saying that, the midfielders did produce todays Player of the Match. Brad awarded the Player of the Match to our teams newest addition - Edward, for his efforts all match & his improved positioning. Well Done Edward!! ** A SPECIAL THANKS GOES TO RAY (NICHOLAS' DAD) & KIM (TOBYS' MUM) WHO BOTH VOLUNTEERED THEIR TIME, BEFORE TODAYS MATCH TO FULFIL THE TEAMS OFFICIALS TABLE DUTY. THANKYOU BOTH. ** ***Happy Mothers Day tomorrow to all our mums, hope you have a lovely day.*** See everyone at training on Tuesday at 5pm.
May 01 U14D vs Gwandalan , Result: 2 - 2 Draw Sorry for the delay, lodging this report - I missed this match, so todays report will be brief. Well done to the team on a 2 all draw with Gwandalan. The team has a new member - Edward Stickley who joined the team for training last Tuesday and had a very good debut match on Saturday. Liam Irvine was injured & wasn't able to play - a real loss for the team. Libby Jones from the W14Bs joined us & gave the team a starting 11. Libby played her 1st game for the team alongside her brother Ben and had a great game on the right wing & as sweeper. Thankyou Libby. Harry continued on his merry way scoring another goal despite being heavily marked. He was joined on the scoreboard by Tyler who lobbed in a fine goal over the defense & goalie - his 1st for the season. Well done guys. Player of the Match was awarded to Ben Jones for his fine efforts in defense. Congratulations to all the parents for making the trek to Gwandalan. This Saturdays match is at Frost Reserve, so no need for a packed lunch & a compass. See everyone at training on Tuesday.
Apr 17 U14D vs Woy Woy , Result: 5 - 5 Draw Todays match was a high scoring affair with both teams attacking strongly & really giving both goalies plenty to do all game. With only 9 players available for todays match we thank Sophie, Georgia & Hanna from the W14Bs & their parents, for joining the team & for playing so beautifully. The whole game was played at a fast pace & it was Woy Woy who opened the scoring. Kincumber recovered well & quickly responded with a terrific goal from Hanna. Both teams were busily attacking & defending when another goal saw Woy Woy back in the lead. Again the score was quickly equalised, this time by a cracking shot from Harry who booted home the 1st of his 4 goals for the match. Hanna & Harry along with Sophie, Toby & Georgia took absolutely numerous shots at goal all match, & it's difficult to believe that they were denied more or any goals for their efforts. After half time Kincumbers' unselfish teamwork continued & resulted in Harry landing some more lovely goal shots that got Kincumber out to a 5 goal to 3 lead. Unfortunately some unlucky deflections in our own goal box helped Woy Woy to a couple more goals resulting in a 5 all draw. In a high scoring match our defenders worked very hard to deflect the many raids launched by Woy Woy. Andrew & Ben had very solid games. Our midfield leader, Liam, worked really hard as sweeper, & was well supported by Nicholas & Toby. Midfielders, Mitchell & Tyler were joined by Sophie & Georgia, who played strongly & gave concentrated support to the forwards Harry, Hanna & Toby. Congratulations team on a great game. The match was very entertaining & a great game to watch. Game Highlights included: a committed team effort; unselfish passing & backing up & Hat Trick + 1 Harry!! Brad awarded Player of the Match to Matthew, for his efforts as goalie. Reminder that training is on from 5pm to 6pm on Tuesday & that there is no game next Saturday.
Apr 10 U14D vs Ourimbah D-2 , Result: 3 - 0 Win Congratulations to Brad & the team - a first round win, what a great way to start the season. A solid game of soccer with everyone putting in a big effort and working hard to gel as a team & work out their positions. With only 9 of our 10 players available to play, a special thankyou goes to Sian, Kayla & Sophie from W14B's for joining their old team mates and giving us a starting 11 with a reserve. Conditions were really warm today, so a reserve was much appreciated. Our goals today came as a result of great team work. Exceptional lead up work from his team mates enabled "Hat-trick" Harry to boot in the teams 3 Goals. Our backs, Andrew, Ben, Nicholas, Kayla & Liam gave great support to our Goalie, Matthew and worked hard all match to clear the ball and deny Ourimbah a goal. Our midfielders Sophie, Mitchell, Sian & Tyler settled in well & looked to control the play. They combined well and along with our forwards Toby & Harry, took every opportunity to launch attacks on the opposition goalie with many of them just missing joining Harry on the scoreboard. Player of the Match was awarded to Andrew for his very solid defensive work. Well done Andrew - hope your arm is feeling better.
