Jul 24 U16A vs Terrigal , Result: 4 - 0 Win
It took a little while for the boys to wake up and get involved in the game today. After a much better second half, netted 4 goals and ended up with the 3 points. Goals to Liam, Ben, great header to Dom and also nice goal to Geoff.

Jul 17 U16A vs East Gosford , Result: 3 - 0 Win
Today saw the team playing at Hilton Moore. Goals to Liam, Shaun and Ben.

Jul 04 U16A vs Gwandalan , Result: 3 - 2 Win
Rescheduled matched today saw the team playing at Fagans Park. Gwandalan came out all guns blazing taking an early 2 nil lead. Half time saw some positive changes and words of wisdom from Rob Lyons. Credit to the boys for listening and playing a lot better second half resulting in Liam getting a double and Ben scoring the match winner. Excellent result in the end with the boys showing great character and team spirit!

Jul 03 U16A vs Toukley , Result: 5 - 0 Win
16A's travelled to downtown Toukley today looking for 3 points. After a shaky first half, the boys got their act together in the second netting 5 goals to record a great win. Crucial moment of the day goes to Ryan saving a penalty shot.

Jun 27 U16A vs Woy Woy , Result: 0 - 0 Draw
Clash of the 2 top sides in this comp. Unfortunately we were down some troops but it didnt matter. We matched there fresh legs with some nice footy and good field position early on and that never say die attitude. Once again our defence led by Captn Smith was solid. The backs and midfield were combining well and we were probably unlucky not to go ahead mid way through the first half. the second half saw our legs tire some what but that was expected and to the boys credit they toughed it out for a gutsy draw. Once again standout performances were from Ryan whos keeping in both days and over the past 4 weeks has been faultless, great hands, the backs Ben and Geoffro and midfielders Luke, Rob Shaun and Shieldsy who covered some yards both days, and especially Nick Turner who got MOM again. Well done Dom for playing despite not being able to stand on Friday and Saturday. Thanks to Josh and Jake Kelly who pushed through the barrier with a bad knees and ankles and thanks to Blake from the 15s who backed up and played a key role in the draw. A great result under tough conditions proud of the boys and we can take alot from this result and weekend well done lads.

Jun 26 U16A vs Wyoming , Result: 0 - 0 Draw
Well a good result considering the conditions of the field and with injuries to 6 of the troops. The boys dominated the game for most of the 70 mins but couldn't find that elusive goal. With a reshuffle to the line up only minutes before the kick off due to the Gow man suffering a groin injury in the warm up and Jake Dom and Josh injured the boys muscled up for an arm wrestle. We came close early with shots from Liam and Jake going close but not close enough to take the lead. Nick Turner, Jordy and Geoffro were defending well as they were guided around park by Captn Smith who found himself at sweeper for the game. Then just as it looked like we were getting right on top Jordy tore his hamstring, another troop down and unfortunate for Jordy who has been in great form. Head up mate thats soccer.
Nick Shields and Shaun Izzard continued to play well and took control of the midfield with decisive passing to the running midfielders Luke and Rob who to their credit ran all day on a track that could only be described as dead at best. 2nd half saw Luke hit the crossbar Liam come close with a nice freekick and Ryan Ohara backing up from the 14's coming really close to stealing the show with his first touch. Thanks Ryan great effort champ you put in a great effort, welldone mate. But stand out performances of the day were Josh Ben Smith, Geoffro and Man of the match Nick Turner playing with a head cold showed everyone just how the game is played, hard tough grinding defence with a never say die attitude well done mate. 0-0 good result well done lads. Rodgo.

Jun 19 U16A vs Berkeley Vale , Result: 5 - 0 Win
Wellllll, good to be back on the park after what felt like 6 months of wet weather and good to see the lads back to the grind to forge out a well earned 5 nil win. To be expected the boys were a bit rusty but we had Berkeley Vale 1 down after about 15 minutes with a well taken shot from the inform sniper Liam Shaw. 2 minutes later Luke Lyons who was playing with busted pelvis ran through the pain to slot the 2nd and we were in control. The defence was tight and jordan Fibs was knocking some quality balls for the troops to take advantage of. Liam did just that 5 mins later to slot his 2nd with a deft chip from the edge of the 18, both he and 'The Dom' were menacing the attack while R. Toy and Luke provided width and great opportunity for us to explore. The 2nd half saw goal of the game go to Dom who got a well deserved goal delivered by a quality cross from Captn for the day Nick Turner who combined well down the right flank with the R.Toy. Dom rocketed the ball into the back of the net with a thunderous volley that would of taken the keepers hands off if he'd of seen the ball. Well done Dom good game mate you worked hard and played the game we spoke about, keep up the good work. Man of the match went to Liam with 2 good goals and great distribution from set plays. Well played Jordy, Rob, Luke the Nicks, Shauno, the Gow man and Geoffro. Special mention to Ryan, Liam and Shaun Izard for backing up for the 18s last week all 3 played exceptionally well and one feels that the clubs depth is certainly at an all time high, Im excited. Rodgo.

May 15 U16A vs Tuggerah , Result: 2 - 1 Win
Clash of the top dogs this week and it turned out to be a good win for the Roo's. 2 of the best goals this year well taken by Jordy and Captn Smith. Great lead up work through the middle of the park from Shaun Izzard and Shieldsy saw the boys expose the lefthand defence of Tuggerah for both goals. Quality distribution on both occasions from Jake Kelly who's crossing, passing ability and vision shows great maturity allowed us to go into half time 2 up. A freakish goal from the Tuggerah keeper in the 2nd half saw the score go to 2-1 and the game change for a brief period, but we prevailed and came out victors. A great result and some good football for all to see as well. great game Jordy in defence and attack your poise over the park and venomous tackling is pleasure to watch keep up the good work also good games to Chris Gow who was man of the match, Geoffro 'get a touch in there' McCarey and Captn Smith. Bring on Gwandalan, Gwondolon or whatever, and then Woy Woy.
Rodgo.

May 08 U16A vs Terrigal , Result: 2 - 0 Win
Well 2010 rolls on with another gritty 2-0 win. The boys dominated the game from start to finish. Not our prettiest footballing display but none the less the boys controlled the game pretty much from the whistle.
Shaun Izzard was first to score with a well finished goal down the left hand side of the park. Good to see the talented midfielder score against his old club, well done mate and well played. At times in the game the Terrigal side showed the footy that I see upsetting some teams and to bring about some suprise results, but our defence led by man of the match, Geoffro McCarey was again rock solid. Our second goal again came from some good build up work down the left which found young Liam Shaw well positioned to round his man and perfectly place a right footed shot, yes right footed shot back across the goal keeper and into the net 2 in 2 weeks from Liam keep it up mate. The half time talk saw coach rob lyons analysing, assessing and directing the troops to keep our width and maintain our shape and discipline wise words from a wise man, and to the boys credit the second half while remaining scoreless saw an improvement in football and intensity which to be truthful was in general a little down from last weeks highs. All in all a good result and sees us on top of the table and looking forward to the first top of the table clash this week vs Tuggerah so get all the family and supporters you can find and head up to tuggerah to witness what is looking like game of the year so far and a great test for this young and impressive team.

Rodgo... Get, Give, Go and he shall receive.

May 01 U16A vs East Gosford , Result: 3 - 0 Win
Well what a difference 2 weeks can make. A solid win against a good team. The boys trained well all week especially thursday and carried it into the warm up on Saturday and onto the pitch. A few positional changes had the boys asking a few questions but to their credit they took it in their stride and presented a very strong showing for those there to witness it, good unity. The first goal came in the first 15 mins with a well flighted freekick from the 'GowMan' that was pin point perfect and young Luke Lyons took his chance well. From here on in we dominated the game with some nice free flowing football mixed with some short sharp interchanges and hilited with a strong well organised defence. Only 1- 0 at half time was probably not the likely situation for us as we could have been 3 or 4 up if not for a fantastic keeping job from the East Gosford keeper. Never the less the second half brought about the emergence of one Robert Toy who off the bench played the best game Ive seen him play. One turn he pulled off in the corner had his marker still looking for the ball at Frost on Sunday night, I had to tell the kid 'mate no one saw it champ go home', but I did. The second goal went to a kid that ran all day and played some nice footy Liam Shaw. A well timed tackle saw the ball fall to his feet and a little touch to the left and the shot was home, well done mate a well deserved goal. From here on in the boys went into cruise control and the 3rd goal to the man of the moment Mr Toy who all agreed he was man of the match came from a quality pass from Jake Kelly roaming on the left who had the vision to spot a well timed run from the Toy who slotted it far post with the touch of a professional. A great performance on a day of many standouts too many to nominate. The platform is set its a long season so maintain our focus. Bring on the Toy man.

Cheers Rodgo Coach

Apr 10 U16A vs Wyoming , Result: 3 - 1 Win
Well here we go again all 2010 and another exciting year of Football at its best, and for the first game of the year I was most impressed with the boys. From the kick off we dominated against a side that did very well last year. We basically played them off the park with Shaun, Nick and Jordy taking control of the midfield and Jake and Luke running well down the flanks. Our first goal came from good work down the left and Jake took his chance very well with the ball coming across him he was able to slide it back across the keeper and inside the near post. Shortly after Captain Ben Smith slotted #2 and we were on our way. 2nd half saw the boys step up a gear with solid defending again from The Gow man (Chris Gow) Rob Toy and Joshua Horton-Knoke. Liam and Luke paired up down the left to supply the crowd with some entertaining football that was a pleasure to watch. Our 3rd goal came off a Shaun Izzard run that was ended in a fierce tackle that saw the ref award the young man a penalty from the SPOT. Taken well by Capt Smith. By this time the boys were relaxed and playing well. A great start to the year and a good foundation to build on. Special mentions to the Gowie and Jordan with some crunching defence, Nick Shields solid start busy in attack and defence his skill had the crowd a buzz.
Ryan solid game in goals good hands mate. Well played Luke and Liam the left handside duo. Cheers Craig Coach.
