| Aug 28 U9C vs Umina , Result: 2 - 1 Win Last game of the season, and home @ our beloved frost to tackle Umina. Kirby unable to make game as still not 100%, with Declan, Brandon lucky to be @ game as both sick all week , 9 players took to the field, no subs against a full team of brown & yellow, plus sub. With no cadet ref , John parent from 9D team ( thankyou ! ) blew the whistle and the game began. The roos were in sleep mode for a midday game, Umina scored a few minutes into the game with a kick well over Jake our goalies head. Well the roos woke up suddenly , with Brandon/ Ben sharing captaincy, motivating players which made them start ”rooing “. With defence of Declan, Ben booting the ball through for midfielders Jack, Dale( having a great game tackling ), the beautiful gals on the wings Bobbi-Mae & Tamara through to Justin, Brandon upfront applying pressure, before Brandon kicked an awesome goal. Ben, Declan clearing the ball many times in defence with the help of Jack doing a great header to save Umina scoring and Jake diving around to keep Umina from scoring again. Team working well for another great play which led to Umina goalie coming out , Jack doing a great pass to Brandon who landed it in the net ( way to go Brandon ).Roos going into drinks/ lolly break 2-1 Well , team ready for last 20 mins of the season, and wanted to end it with a win... 2nd half ball going end to end, Jake saving his best game to last, doing an awesome job diving/ sliding, Ben very determined not to let the brown & yellow score, Declan doing some big kicks, defending well, Miss Tamara giving the Umina boys a hard time on the wing, with Miss marathon Bobbi-Mae doing it on the other wing, , Dale so close to scoring, great overall game, Justin great kicks out of the goals/defending, Jack amongst it all, Brandon keeping Umina defence/ goalie on their toes, unlucky not to score again . With no- one scoring in the 2nd half, Roos winning 2-1, what a great game to end the season. Player of the Match- Ben, Bobbi- Mae, Brandon, Dale, Declan, Jack, Jake, Justin & Tamara you all played awesome !! Coach Kevin gave the trophy to keep to Jake, great goalie all year !! Went home with the goalie shirt as he was that excited ( sorry Jake you don’t get to keep the shirt as well!! ). A HUGE THANKYOU TO KEVIN for coaching the 9C team this year, you did a fantastic job !! To Leon who assisted Kevin at the beginning with training- thankyou + coming to support the team throughout the year. Parents/ grandparents/ friends- thankyou for supporting the players/ team. | Aug 21 U9C vs Woy Woy , Result: 2 - 4 Loss 9C team had the delight of canteen/ BBQ duty before game- a big thank you to the parents who helped out, you did a fantastic job!!! Team home @ frost against Woy Woy on a cool, windy after lunch time game. Games this year against Woy Woy who do not have an A or B grade teams, have been good close games, only 1 goal difference with drawing them on one occasion. Already knowing our future karate champ Justin not able to be @ game, lined up before game day our super sub Jarred ( 9C Team say a BIG THANKYOU for helping them out this year, you are an awesome player !! ). With 2 withdrawals on game day, Kirby, Dale unable to take to the field, our team was now 8. Jack had the duty of being captain , big ask with 8 players to the opposition squad of 10. Team had only got in their positions when the blue & white went on the attack and did a great kick, hard over our goalies head Jake who jumped in the air and got a fingertip , ball finding the top end of the net. Team working well in defence of Ben, Declan( lucky to be @ game, still abit washed out from the bug that it is going around, though was keen to play, though needing H20 on the field), gal powers Tamara, Bobbi-Mae at left/ right centre wings, Jack centre mid with Brandon, Jarred upfront. Not to be out done Roos players found Jack, who did his fancy footwork and chipped a cracker of a kick over their goalies head. Just before drinks the blue & white scored again giving them 2-1 up @ the break. With one player short on the field, against the wind, 2nd stanza began. Minor changes of positions, Declan now playing left centre wing and Tamara now in the backline . With ball going end to end, Woy Woy finding the net scoring 2 more goals. Roos never gave up with team getting ball through to Brandon doing some great work up front to slam the ball in to the air over the blue & white goalies head, with the final score Woy Woy winning 4-2. Player of the Match- Ben, Bobbi-Mae, Brandon, Declan, Jack, Jake, Jarred & Tamara you all played awesome !! Go the 9C Team!! |
Aug 14 U9C vs Gosford , Result: 0 - 5 Loss 9C Team headed to Gavenlock Oval to v Gosford who we have met twice this season. Kirby away sick ( hope u get better ASAP ), Bobbi- Mae away skiing at the snow ( lucky thing ) with dad/ coach Kevin, with no training through the week, Frost closed again, does it always rain Tuesday??? Gosford had a full side plus 2 subs, to our Roos with 8 players, half the team getting over colds/ bugs, etc, was going to be a big ask.... Unable to get subs as other U9 teams playing at the same time on different fields + team photos still taking place. Dale captain led our team on to the field, the game began with the dragons scoring in the first few minutes of play. Ball going from end to end, but seemed that the dragons had more puff, took their chances and found the net. Went into drinks 3- nil down. At the break Declan’s dad tried to get team motivated, Justin’s mum handing the lollies out, hoping to bring some spark into the team in the second half. The fire was not coming out today, team were still very flat, losing possession, passing ball to the opposition, making mistakes, dragons found the net 2 more times. Final score- Loss 5-0. It was an off day for the Roos, a day that it did not click. Hoping everyone is 100% fit for the last 2 games of the season... and we need coach Kevin back!! Player of the Match–everyone- Ben, Brandon, Dale, Declan, Jack, Jake, Justin & Tamara. GO THE 9C TEAM!!
Aug 07 U9C vs Wyoming , Result: 3 - 3 Draw With an early start for team photo an hour before kick off @ frost, Dale managing to smile for camera though unable to play game as has been unwell all week, still looking quite pale ( hope u get better ASAP + staying to support your team, what a trooper), we had 9 players take the field against Wyoming. Game delayed 15 minutes, no ref before Tamara’s dad Glen ( a big thankyou ) took the whistle and the game began. With Kirby doing the honours of leading the team, team playing well as ground still heavy/ muddy even though sun all week! Wyoming got the break, and got through our defensive line and Jake unlucky not to save it. Though this made the roos lift and we hit back straight away with great teamwork for Jack midfield to slam one into the net. Brandon/ Justin up front, giving Wyomings defence hard work, Jack with an awesome back kick, had Wyomings coach giving the thumbs up, Declan into the action playing a great game moving the ball upfront. Ball one end to the other from roos to tigers goalie, seeing who was going to crack next. Ball not cleared by roos defence straight to the opposition who from 15 metres to the left of the roos goal booted the ball hard looked like it was going to the right of the goal post, Jake went that way as looked like it was going out and somehow hit the post and it rebounded into the net. Team now talking/ passing ball well for Brandon to smash one into the net to go into drinks even stevens!! Well the roos knew they were in for a great 2nd half, and had to keep working hard, as with no sub to the tigers they knew that there was still more jumping to do. The gals Bobbi-Mae, Tamara having blinder of a game on the wings, with Bobbi so close to scoring as well. Ben/ Kirby playing well in defence/ passing and Jake well he loves playing goalie and did some awesome saves putting his body on the line. Wyoming had a free kick, with roos forming the wall which deflected off the roos and went back to a tigers player, who was unmarked who kicked it high over everyones head and went in just below the top post. The pressure was on, roos great team work from defence which led to a gap in the middle, with Jack/Brandon taking on 1 tiger in defence and bang Brandon scored again. There was many missed opportunities of goals from both teams, the adrenaline was pumping all game, a win would have been the ultimate but both teams happy with a draw, the final result 3-3. Player of the match goes to Declan- great passing/ tackling, played a great game in midfield and going back to help out in defence!! GO THE 9C TEAM!!
Jul 25 U9C vs , Result: 0 - 0 Bye 25th July 2010, 9C team participated in the Under 9 Gosford Gala Day @ Gavenlock Oval. Players were Ben, Bobbi- Mae, Brandon, Dale, Declan, Jack, Jake, Jarred ( U8/6 ), Justin, Tamara. 9C team were in Division 2 Pool B. Games were 10mins each way/ no break for halftime. 1st game was against Terrigal 9C who we played the day before, which we drew, but today team came out firing with Jarred & Brandon scoring. Winning 2- 0. 2nd game against Ourimbah 9C, do not have a A or B grade teams ( had a few A players, that stood out ), and 1st time we had met due to different divisions of the coast. They scored of a corner kick, deflection of a Ourimbah player and scored just into the corner of the post- Loss 1-0 3rd game against The Entrance 9B, which Jack got a goal to give us a 1 nil break at halftime. 2nd half The Entrance scored off a corner kick, and last 1 min against the run of play to score. Loss 2-1 3rd game against Woy Woy 9C, do not have an A or B grade teams either, and who we have met twice this season with a 1 loss difference in game 1, and a draw in game 2. We had to at least win/ draw this game to keep us alive to play semi-finals, though not to be last 2mins, Woy Woy scored – Loss 1-0 Ourimbah 9C/ The Entrance 9B went through to play in semi against Pool A, and final winner was from pool A- Kariong 9B who beat Terrigal 9B. 9C team you all played awesome, as there was not much difference between each of the games. It was a long day for the kids to keep themselves entertained between each match, lucky we were near the swings/ slippery dip. Plus thankyou for the parents/ grandparents coming out to watch them. It was good to see them all have fun and to play abit more soccer this season!! Finally a BIG THANKYOU to Gosford Football Club for organising a great gala day tournament!!!
Jul 24 U9C vs Terrigal , Result: 2 - 2 Draw Home at Frost and 9C playing Terrigal under different conditions when we met them in the heat of the day in game 2 to a cool brunch time game this round. It was the first time since round 5 that we have had our full squad, with Declan back ready for action after his month holiday- lucky thing!! plus no sickness... With some other grounds closed, Frost lucky to be open, kids were already covered with mud in warm up before Declan had the duty of being captain and the game began. Ball going from end to end, before Terrigal going through and scoring. Both teams finding it hard sticking/ falling in the mud, ball heavy to kick/ stopping dead on many occasions , before team worked well for Jack @ centre mid crack one into the back of the net, to give 1 all at the break. Second half, both teams sluggish due to the conditions , Terrigal got a goal with a player being offside ( where is the linesmen!! ), thats the break sometimes. Not long after Brandon then did a great corner kick into the black & orange goalmouth, with several roos waiting, which the ball deflected off a Terrigal player, and gave us a home goal, now thats karma!!! It was not the best performance , and the final result fair for both teams with a 2 all draw. Player of the match goes to Kirby- played well in defence, did some great passes and played a great overall match!! GO THE 9C TEAM!!
Jul 17 U9C vs Kariong , Result: 8 - 4 Win No training throughout the week, as has been for some time, with Declan on the last leg of his holiday adventure and Ben unable to be @ game, Jarred our part- time super sub came from his game @ Terrigal to the outskirts of Kariong to help make our team of 9. ( A big thanku to Jarred’s mum ). Last met Kariong in game 1 , we were to play them in round 6, though washed out, so Captain Justin led us onto Kariong oval to do our final battle with Kariong. Well the whistle blew, Kariong kicked off and within 2 mins, team passed well from Justin to Jack to Brandon and wow bang had scored. With Jarred/ Brandon up front, who Brandon then scored his second goal 5 mins into the game, centre mids Jack, Justin, and centre wings Tamara, Bobbi-Mae ( unwell with the flu- pushed herself to be here- still playing well ) with Kirby/ Dale defence and Jake god love him as goalie. Team were doing well with Tamara getting through and scoring her 1st goal for the year- GO GAL!! Team then relaxed and Kariong went into score, though not long before Brandon smashed another into the goal, with the Roos going into the break 4-1 up. 2nd half began, team looked abit sluggish and Kariong with 2 subs looked to have stepped up a notch, Kariong were on the attack early and scored. Roos didn’t like it and team worked well for Jack to slam it into the goals. Roos then fell asleep ( I think they thought they had the game in the bag ), no one talking and Kariong against the run of play were back with 2 goals ( Too hard when it is 1 on 1 Jake.. ). Well this certainly made the Roos wake up, as they went on a scoring frenzy in 5 mins with Jarred ( fantastic 1st goal in the U9 .. ) , Jack (2nd for the day ) & Brandon ( no.4 today) scoring. Though many goals missed by team, could have been in double figures with Kirby/ Dale almost getting a goal when changed positions to midfielders halfway through the 2nd half, Justin unlucky not to score during the game, and many missed by Brandon/ Jarred up front. Final score 8-4. Player of the match goes to Bobbi-Mae who was only 50% well but gave 100% effort, you go gal power !! GO THE 9C TEAM!!
Jul 03 U9C vs Umina , Result: 4 - 1 Win Midday game @ frost was a bitterly cold windy winter day against Umina, with Declan still holidaying, Justin @ a Karate tournament we had to call on Jarred from the U8/6 team ( thanx once again + your parents for bringing you ) to give us a team of 9. With no training during the week, as Frost was closed to help the field dry out to repair itself for weekend games, Captain Kirby led the Roos onto the field who were eager to play. The ball was down Umina’s half with Jake our goalie touching the ball only twice, great work as well. With great defence by Kirby who seems to be enjoying his 1st year of soccer and Ben hot on fire in defence, tackling so well with great kicks/ passing to our midfielders was a great display ( what lollies did you have?? ). Midfielders Jack/ Dale/ Tamara/ Bobbi-Mae were amongst it attacking +++. With no training for some time, players were passing well before ball to Brandon who kicked it hard towards the goals from the side, hit a Umina player and then rebounded 5 metres into the Umina goals. WOW! Like to see a replay of that goal again! The Roos were jumping up and down through excitement or trying to stay warm. Next couple of sets of play, ball went to Jack who did a bit of fancy footwork and scored. 2 nil up @ the break. 2nd half, team still in 5th gear , Jarred having another great game up front and unlucky not to score ( how much petrol is in your tank after already playing earlier.. are u on the same lols as Ben ?? ) . Tamara overall tackling/ passing/ great throw ins from the side ( watch out matildas ), + with another matilda to watch for, Miss Marathon Bobbi-Mae causing havoc up the side , dazzling Dale doing some great tackles getting the ball through , Mr Reliable Brandon doing a kick into the middle from the side for Jack to go around a couple of players and score. The roos then relaxed for a few minutes, abit of scrappy play which led to Umina scoring, unlucky Jake as there were alot of players in your way to see where the ball was. This made the team lift, and with great teamwork from the backs/ midfielders/ strikers which saw Cracker Jack ( playing awesome )end up with the ball again who smashed it into the goal to give him a hat trick. Fantastic game by everyone, a day that it all clicked, broken the home drought with a 4- 1 win Player of the match goes to Tamara who had a great overall game, you go gal !! GO THE 9C TEAM!!
Jun 26 U9C vs Woy Woy , Result: 3 - 3 Draw Training only for 20 mins Tuesday, before the bucketing of rain, rain throughout the week + overnight, expecting game to be called off, though checked web AUSTIN OVAL OPEN, and what a great field, as it didn’t even look like it had a drink!! With Justin lucky to be at game, recovering from sickness, still not 100%, Jack with sore back, Declan away travelling in the outback we were able to get a sub from the U8/6 team- Jarred ( thanx, who had played earlier @ Gosford). Bobbi-Mae team Captain marched our players to do battle against Woy Woy who we met in game 4. Woy Woy went on the attack early, and scored a few minutes into the game. Ball going from one end to other, shots being fired at both goalies ( Jake still putting his hand up to be goalie + doing a fantastic job ). Woy Woy did a handball in their goalmouth, and Roos players yelling out handball ( They all know what happened to Harry in the world cup!!) Woy Woy ref, gave Roos a penalty in the box. Jack felt that he was brave enough to take it, and cracked it hard at the goalie but their goalie almost did a great save, though came off him, deflected off Brandon, and then Jack smashed it into the goal, 1 all at the break. As most games have been close this year, 2nd half the team knew that it wasn’t over and had to keep working hard. Not long after the 2nd half start, team working well to get ball down to Brandon who slammed it into the goal. Though, Woy Woy striked back to level at 2 all almost straight away. Woy Woy player then hurt down for about 5 mins ( no extra time added- hey its only non-comp! ), then our defence out of positions for a blue & white player to go on 1 on 1 with our goalie and score, and hit the lead. Bobbi-Mae came off before the end of the match as suffering from stomach pains, backs Ben, Kirby, & Tamara pushing ball through to mid fielders Justin, Jack, Dale up to Jarred ( doing an awesome job playing up an age level ) and Brandon to even up the score with a great shot into goals. What a great team effort, as not all were 100% well but still came away with a draw. Player of The Match goes to Brandon ( Mr Reliable ), did well as striker and was rewarded with 2 cracker of goals!! GO THE 9C TEAM!!!
Jun 19 U9C vs Gosford , Result: 2 - 2 Draw After 5 weeks off since our last game, training for the first time in over a month, game today at Gavenlock Oval against Gosford on a sunny winter cool morning. Already knowing Declan off on a month adventure- enjoy some warmer climate, unable to get subs as other U9 & U8 games around same time all over the coast, 2 late sick calls @ ground from Ben, Justin( get well ASAP !! ) we now had 7 players to take to the field against 9 Gosford boys. Dale captain led our team onto the smaller 3/4 field ( good for us today with only 7!). Brandon/ Tamara up front , Jack/ Bobbi-Mae midfielders-defence/ Dale & Kirby defence and our goalie Jake . The team were doing well as the first half went for 30mins ( compared to the normal 20mins ) until against the run of play Gosford scored- 1 down @ the break. With drinks, H20 over their heads, coach talk, second half began with only Tamara/ Dale changing positions. Team doing a great job defending/ getting ball through to our striker Brandon to score locking score at 1 all. Few minutes later Jack down hurt in play in front of Gosford goals, ref let play continue, Gosford scored. ( Milking a penalty Jack?? No he was hurt, boot in the head, H20 over the head/ rub and Jack up to have more action ) . Both teams playing well, though ours a bit more as we had more players to defend, and get around, plus Jake having an awesome game in goals ( must be the new Bday gloves!! ) Well some great team work to get the ball up to the front, which went to Gosford goalie kicking back, which Dale got the ball, kicked to Brandon and scored, now locked at 2 all. Still waiting to see how long the second half was, 30 mins as well!! Ball still going down one end to the other, and we almost stole the match with missing a goal in the last 3 mins. Not to be, the 5 boys and 2 gals you should be proud of yourselves- you ran and ran. Draw a great result!!! All deserved a reward today though Player of The Match goes to Dale, did well in defence and up front to help set up 2nd goal. GO THE 9C TEAM !!
May 15 U9C vs Umina , Result: 2 - 0 Win Today we headed south to Umina with both Dale & Justin turning up with bandages to their injured hands , lucky its soccer not league was the game for them today. Captain Brandon led our troops onto the field to do battle. Right from the start we knew we were in for a match, Umina kicked a ball high into the air that was over Jake our goal keepers head, and Jake looked like a pro jumping into the air and touching the ball so as to go over the net. WHAT A SAVE !!- crowd in awe- Danny Vukovic watch out !! With Declan (unlucky not to score) , Brandon giving Umina defence hard work, centres Justin , Jack ( great corner/huge header-) big kicking games attacking/ defending, wings Miss Marathon-Bobbi-Mae , Tamara- attacking- playing her best game so far, Ben off the bench into the midfield into everything , defence Kirby, Dale doing great work with Jake keeping Umina out . Many shots at goals missing from both teams before great team work from defence down to the front that led Brandon to score. 1 nil up at break, watermelon/oranges were on todays menu to give our players a boost. Few positions were changed, Declan/ Ben now in defence ( great guitar moves Ben when Umina missed shots at goals... ? sledging or hopes to be in a band!! ), Dale-mid, Kirby / Tamara up front, Jake kept the gloves on. The sequel began, pretty much as the first half, Jake doing an awesome job in goals- what did u have for brekki?? Roos sniffing a victory when team worked together to pass the ball that led to Brandon flying into scoring a 2nd goal. Great match Umina, though Roos day winning 2-0. Player of the match goes to Jake- had an absolute blinder as goalie!!!!!!! GO THE 9C TEAM!!
| May 08 U9C vs Woy Woy , Result: 5 - 6 Loss Captain Tamara marched the team onto frost against the blue & white Woy Woy on a gorgeous sunny day. Not long into play Kincumber scored with Justin doing a huge kick above the goal keepers head ( GO JUSTIN!! ) . Jake in goals doing a great job saving several with help of Dale & Kirby in defence before opposition scoring with huge kicks over our Roo’s heads. Justin, Declan, Tamara, Bobbi-Mae, Ben moving ball up to Brandon & Jack ( great passing ) before Brandon having 2 cracker shots that went in ( AWESOME GOALS ), going into drinks 4-3 down. Justin’s mum with the red frogs, hoping to make the kids hyper as with only 1 reserve to Woy Woy’s 4, team needed some fix, as they were in for more action. Justin took the goalie gloves ( well they didn’t fit him- so bare hands ) doing a great job as there were several corner kicks, going right into the box, over Roos heads finding the net, with now a lead of 6-3. To the teams credit, free flowing game from end to end, team spirit not down, red frogs kicked in, defenders Ben, Tamara, working hard, pushing ball through to never stop running Bobbi-Mae ( nickname now- Miss marathon ), Declan, Kirby, Dale, Jack, with Brandon, Jake up front. With great passing by team, open space to fast flyer Brandon with his footwork landing him another 2 fantastic goals. The score 6-5, with a few minutes to spare unlucky not to come away with a draw. Very entertaining game, great to watch!! With Brandon on fire with 4 goals ( payment from dad- is this allowed??? Yes-club confirmed all legal only non- comp... ), Justin’s fab goal, rest of team playing well, Player of the match goes to Justin- great 1st goal of the game, played well as midfielder before doing a great job in goals 2nd half. | Apr 17 U9C vs Terrigal , Result: 1 - 4 Loss Today we were at home to Terrigal. What a beautiful day it turned out after raining the night before, which did leave Frost a bit soggy in places. The team took to the field, with no reserves, as Kirby away unwell- hope u get better soon. Jack took the goalie gloves in the first half, and Jake ( Captain ) in the second half. The match was nil all for the first 15 mins, very evenly matched, before a Terrigal striker went through the defensive line and went 1 on 1 with our goalie, Terrigal up 1 nil at the break. 2nd half began, and some positions were changed, we were attacking more and Brandon came up with a fantastic goal, great shot. Kevin introduced players, gave them the coach talk, put them in positions and the whistle blew for the game to begin. Kariong got the 1st goal, about 5minutes into the game, they had a free kick due to an accidental handball in the goalmouth (oops!! ), and the opposition kicked it way over our goalkeepers head.
