Aug 29 WAA5 vs Berkeley Vale , Result: 2 - 0 Win
Not exactly how we would have liked it to have gone, with Berkeley Vale forfeiting the last scheduled game before the finals, but such is life.

Having secured 4th place we now go into next weeks minor semi head to head against Kanwal-1.

Three big games ahead of us now! Exciting stuff or what?

Aug 22 WAA5 vs Kanwal 2 , Result: 3 - 0 Win
What a great day, the sun was shining, and the team was in rhythm. With our stand-in coach motivating us, we took the field and put points on the board in the very early stages of play. As usual, Penny did a cracker of a run, dodging players and bypassing the keeper to place our first goal safely in the net.

Our second goal was almost put to bed by Jen, a good strong kick that unfortunately hit the upright. Fortunately though, it bounced back into play, where Kelly was 'Johnny on the spot' to put it into the net for our second goal. The good news is Kelly actually kept her shirt on this time and didn't flash her pale midriff at anyone...

The third goal was a beauty from Penny, another strong run but again fed through by our midfield and backs. Danni and Michelle did some awesome power kicks from the back line, and Kim, Lisa and Jackie did some great runs through the centre. Brooke, Jan, Linda and Jen had great games. Hannah had safe hands and kept a clean sheet. We went to half time 3 nil up.

Our midfield were very strong today, passing many balls through to the forwards, and keeping the ball in our half most of the game. The back line worked beautifully in the first half, and looked bored in the second half thanks to our hard working midfielders.

Claire took honours for the day with her less than graceful face plant. It could easily have won first prize in Funny Home Videos... With her pride on the line, she jumped straight back into play, spitting dirt and grass from her mouth, laughing it off.

Thanks Mark for standing in as coach today.

A win next week should see us safely into the semi's!

Aug 15 WAA5 vs Wyoming , Result: 2 - 3 Loss
Wyoming scored in the opening minutes of the game leaving us on the back foot. We were bunched up in the goal mouth leaving Wyoming with unmarked players. Then to add insult to injury, Wyoming scored again - same scenario, taking us to the half time break 2 nil down. They are a very skilled team, but we are better! We just didn't play as a team today...

The second half was a different story. We attacked really well and dominated the second half. Kim and Jade did some amazing runs, and our first goal was a joint effort from many players. Penny kicked a massive corner into a very strong wind, Lisa got her head to it and directed it to the goal mouth where Kim was able to reach out and place it firmly in the back of the net. What a trio! Well done girls.

Just when we were getting it together, Wyoming made it through our back line again to leave us 3-1 down. On a good day we would have never have suffered like we did today. The stars were not aligned in our favour, tempers flared and we lost our usual unity.

Late in the second half Danni came to the rescue with her golden boot. She gently pushed the ball to the right, and in her usual grand fashion, scooped under it with enough force to send it flying for 45 yards straight into the back of the net! It didn't even hit the ground!! What a kick!! Wyoming's keeper looked stunned... The golden goal was amazing, we all screamed as it sank into the net.

Every team has an off game, thankfully ours is now behind us. Onwards and upwards!

Aug 08 WAA5 vs Kanwal 1 , Result: 1 - 1 Draw
A micro sleep in the opening 5 minutes allowed Kanwal to put first points on the board. Then like an injection of Red Bull, the girls came to life and defended like Trojans to keep Kanwal away from the net for the rest of the game. Hannah made some great saves, no doubt fuelled by turning 18, Congrats and Happy 18th Birthday Hannah!!

Not long after Kanwal scored, we managed to even the score to 1 all.

Penny (with a very sore foot...) cracked a ripper of a cross that Kim was able to run onto. Kim kept her composure as she eyeballed the keeper in a Mexican stand-off. Kim did some quick mental calculus and nailed the shot on goal, sending the ball to the far right hand corner - safely out of reach of the keeper. The screams from our team were deafening, and well deserved.

We went to half time at 1 all, and there the score remained. Some great football from our girls against a VERY young/fit/fast opposition!

I can't sign off without saying, that Michelle deserves man (woman) of the match! She kept us out of trouble with her massive kicks, lightening speed and gutsy determination. Someone buy that girl a Tequila!

Jul 25 WAA5 vs Budgewoi , Result: 1 - 0 Win
Report courtesy of Jen :)
The girls played their hearts out today despite the early morning road trip & kick off up at Budgey. Tara got us sorted in positions & we were more than ready to go. The pitch was a bit slippery with dew making the ball hard and wet.

Terrific game played by all today - had a few stand out players and plays. Jade had a few close call shots. The sideline was on edge of their seats. The shear determination etched on her face - if she keeps it up she will have her day, I'm sure of it.

Claire had the Budgey goalie fumbling and like a pro picked up the ball on the bounce-back, ran it around the floundering goalkeeper and put in a nicely angled goal that was rolling, rolling, rolling until it finally went in. The whole team was blowing hard to get a wind up to push it over the line..... She ran today like she was on fire. OK Claire you can ease up on the performance-enhancing caffeine hits now or may be keep it up. Whatever works for ya...lol.

We mixed it up at half time & Lisa with troublesome quads went into goals. She had a few fantastic saves - one from a penalty kick outside the 18 yard (even though she couldn't see a thing). Hannah had a run in the second half and did well to almost score a goal up front...it just went over the cross bar. Very unlucky not to go in.
Our backline was once again safe as houses & kept Budgey onslaught at bay - well done Michelle, Dani, Sandy, Brooke & Sal and, of course, our two goalies for today Hannah & Lisa.

Several other shots at goal should really have opened up the score line for Kincumber but it was not meant to be. We were happy with the win though against a team we were fighting second spot for on the points ladder. It was a tough game especially with a few players not 100% but we all seemed to enjoy ourselves. Having subs today made all the difference as well. Seasons not up yet ladies so rest your weary legs over the bye weekend and see ya's at training.

Jul 18 WAA5 vs Umina , Result: 0 - 1 Loss
The challenge was there for us today, starting with the bare 11 players. We knew that we needed early goals to give us a breather later in the game. Despite dominating play, the goals just did not come even though we forced numerous attacks on their goal. Late in the first half Umina scored from one of the few attacks they had on our goal.

Half time saw some gasping blue faced females looking towards an empty reserve bench...

All in all, not too shabby all things considered. Kim had a great game and ran her heart out, making some great runs and doing some great passes. Special thanks to Michelle for playing with an injury, and making all the difference, a game with 10 players would have been tragic. Lisa had a great game in the centre and was unlucky not to score.

We had many shots on goals - myself included, but just couldn't put them to bed. Thanks Kelly and Mark for your positive support from the sideline. Chins up girls, stay positive!

Jul 04 WAA5 vs Kariong , Result: 6 - 1 Win
Report courtesy of Jen aka Muzz.

Today's game was dedicated to Claire's dad who passed away during the week. Our thoughts, love and prayers are with Claire and her family at this time.

After what was a bit of a shaky start....it was the cold mountain air...brrrgghh, we soon warmed up & got stuck in. Four minutes after kick off, Claire opened up the score board by putting in a beautiful goal - it was like it was meant to be and I think a certain someone was looking down at her with pride today. From then onwards, it set the tone for the rest of the game.

Penny had another blinder today, following up with two more goals in a matter of minutes - sorry I can't remember how & who assisted as the goals just kept going..... Kim finished off the first half by scoring her first for the match. 4-0 at half time was a great result.

After our blistering first half, we seemed to be having a bit of trouble getting out of second gear. What probably could have been a 12 goal game turned into a bunch of toe punts, near misses, air swings, good intentions & wrong directions....myself included.... A couple of perfect sitters went begging but not to worry. Kariong managed to score, headed in from a corner & I think that was just the medicine we needed to swing back into action.

Our forwards steamed ahead with a lovely cross from Jade to Kim who was well positioned to finish it off and put another one away. Penny soon got her hat trick to finish off the goal count 6-1. Well done ladies.

The passing and possession today was impressive and we all did well - backclaps all round. We were all there for each other & that's what its all about. Thanks Tara for organising us today & stepping in Kev's shoes. I'd also like to add a special mention to the volunteer unofficial Kariong ref - sorry I didn't get his name but he was clear, fair, unbiased & got the job done....even if we did run his butt off at times...lol.

Finally, it's great to score goals but its even greater to be a part of a team & greater still to be back on pitch.

Jun 20 WAA5 vs Berkeley Vale , Result: 7 - 0 Win
Wooooo hooooo! Always good to come away with a win, especially after a punch up... O....M....G....! Somebody has anger management issues, and fortunately they don’t play for our club! The ladette’s turned rogue and it was handbags at ten paces! Not a good look for LADIES! It’s amazing how toxic the smell is from just one bad egg.... especially after cracking!

So it goes like this. We had our first shot on goal within the first 60 seconds of the game. Unfortunately, Claire shot off her right boot and sent the ball straight to the keeper’s foot. The miss didn’t slow us down any, only 5 minutes later Claire made up for her mistake by feeding a ball across the goal mouth. It was safely placed in the corner of the net by Kim... smoke was seen coming off the ball, well done Kim!

With our spirits high at placing first points on the board, Penny cracked a ripper – scoring in the top corner of the net FROM A CORNER!!!! Everyone was gobsmacked. We went to half time up 2 nil.
Jen (aka Muzza) scored an awesome goal in the second half, and might I say, from OUTSIDE the 18 yard box! After a great header/pass from Kelly, Penny scored her second, dribbling the ball up around several players, including around the keeper, in her usual ‘taunting’ style.
Lisa worked very hard to score the next goal, and again, smoke was seen coming off the ball after she cracked it into the back of the net. Not ten minutes later, Lisa scored again! But wait, there’s more! Claire ran the ball up the sideline and passed it in to the centre where Lisa was able to stretch out her boot for her well deserved hat trick. Go Lisa!!

So they were the 7 goals, but needless to say, the ball was only fed up to the forwards thanks to the tireless efforts of our midfielders and backs. Special mention to Danielle for her massive kicks to place the ball up front. Also to Sandie, Brooke and Jan for their great work in defence. Hannah, our keeper had just one touch on the ball thanks to our awesome mid field and backs. She did very well to stay focused in an otherwise boring game for our keeper. Linda did some awesome headers, and as usual Jade and Jackie ran rings around the opposition. Kim had an absolute blinder.

Thanks to Mark for yelling at us from the sideline in Kevin’s absence, and to Tara for organising us so well.

May 09 WAA5 vs Budgewoi , Result: 0 - 0 Draw
Today’s report brought to you by Jen.
The ladies (especially the mother's in the team in particular) looked radiant in their alternate strip. May be it was the warm sunny day or may be just the reflection from the maroon jerseys or both - who knows. I think the general consensus was that the strip material was much more comfy and looked more updated then the normal one.....any chance we could wear this one every week?? I even wanted to tuck mine in for once before being promptly told by Michelle to 'get it out'......hmmm.

Anyway, I digress, the first ten minutes or so of the game started off well with both sides fairly evenly matched - nice passing between Kinny players and everyone was working well as a unit. We even managed to have a few near misses at goal but to be pipped at the post. Each side was trying to wear the other down looking for an opening at each end and there were a few desperate moments. I think even with all of our subs - the countdown was on to half time. How much longer ref? Pen tried to hide when she was subbed off - nice try Penny.

It was still nil all at half time as it became very obvious as to who the main play makers were on the Budgey side - so we were given some very specific instructions from coach & ran back out on the paddock.

The second half the girls were trying hard but seemed to lose momentum a bit with Dani working the hardest. She seemed to be everywhere and covering everyone - wonder woman with the massive golden boot. We need to work on holding our positions a bit better and spreading the love around the field rather than bunching. A few free kicks were given to each side with Penny only just clearing the cross bar missing by an inch. It would have been a pearler. We made a few line breaks up front but unfortunately never got to finish it off.'Hannah had a blinder of a game in goals especially with two fantastic body saves - she was there when it counted!'

A good but tough game - we'll know what to expect next time. Game ended scoreless with another draw but I think we played better than last week. Let's keep it up!

Happy Mother's Day to all lovely mums in the Club.

May 02 WAA5 vs Umina , Result: 2 - 2 Draw
....Why is it we fall apart without Kevin yelling at us? How bizarre.
Not much to say except - we should have won!
Not having an official ref meant a 7 minute delay in kick off. Our opposition managed to find an official to unofficially ref the game... confused yet?
Special mention to Danielle and Michelle, without them the score line would have been horrific. A couple of great saves by Hannah!
Kim was brilliant up front, setting up many great plays.
Penny scored the first goal giving us a 1 - nil lead. Umina felt the need to equalise, which was really annoying, so Claire hit back with a sitter. Gotta love being in the right place at the right time, eh?
At 2 - 1 up and only 4 minutes to go, Umina equalized again. Amazingly, the full time whistle blew straight after the goal! Go figure....

Apr 18 WAA5 vs Kariong , Result: 6 - 1 Win
What a great game! The whole team contributed to setting up the 6 goals. 3 goals to Penny, 1 to Danielle and 2 to Michelle (or should I say 3)...? Nah, we won’t mention the ‘own goal’...

Great direction from Kevin on the sideline. The only real complaints came after our half time break when we all stood up and realised how wet the ground was that we’d been sitting on. Well it had to be the wet ground, we couldn’t possibly have 15 incontinent players, could we? Here’s hoping we don’t draw field 7 too many times this season.

Hannah played well in goals, lots of good communication between the back line and our keeper. Once again, our back line kept us safe, and our midfielders worked very hard to feed ball after ball up to the scoring trio. Thanks to family and friends for cheering us on, welcome back Sally!!

Apr 11 WAA5 vs Tuggerah , Result: 4 - 1 Win
A fantastic start to the season. A midday game on a hot April Sunday was taxing to say the least. Our back line was awesome. Tuggerah were clearly frustrated with the strength of the backs. Sandie, Michelle and Brooke cleared ball after ball, Danielle had a blinder! Poor Hannah looked bored in goals thanks to our backs being on fire.

Kim broke away early in the game, managing to dribble the ball up the side line, through several opponents and push it through the keepers fingers and into the net. A mammoth run, should have been a 3 pointer! Penny soon followed with one of her classic runs, also weaving through the defence - taunting the keeper as she closed in. Penny's shot was never going to miss. Safe in the top of the net. Claire had a crack at goal, missing the top corner only by an inch. She tried to argue that council hadn't measured the goals properly, and that is SHOULD have been awarded, but no one listened...

We went to half time break leading 2 nil. Coach swapped around a few positions, Michelle moved up front, with Danielle taking over as sweeper. Our midfield worked very hard putting many balls through to the forwards, Lisa, Jen, Jade and Jackie worked tirelessly. Tuggerah snuck in a goal just after half time bringing the score to 2 - 1.

With the ball bouncing off players like a pinball machine in the goal mouth, Kelly was able to get a toe to the ball and push it in to score our 3rd goal. Michelle put the fourth goal to bed after running the ball up to the keeper and shooting the ball firmly into the corner of the net. Poor Penny took a spill and fell onto her arm that was recently broken. After a couple of minutes on the ground, she stood up and turned to the opposition and said through streaming tears "I'm not a pussy, I broke it a few months ago"... Well said!
